For those with specifically Elementary Education K-6 coverage on a temporary or professional certificate, you can apply and qualify for a fee waiver to cover the initial attempt of the ESE K-12 subject area test, and to cover the fee to add the ESE K-12 coverage to your certificate.

You will need to apply and get the waiver approved before you register for the exam and/or apply to add this coverage to your certificate.

Adding a subject

Pass a Certification Exam to add a subject to your certificate. Use exam prep websites to help you prepare to take the exam.

  • Teachers with a Professional Certificate should complete the application called District Add Subject through their FLDOE account and pay the $75 to the district. Ensure the FLDOE has posted your exam score on your account before paying the fee.

  • Teachers with a Temporary Certificate should complete the application called Addition of Subject through their FLDOE account and pay the $75 to the DOE. Once the subject is added, scan a copy of the updated certificate to the Human Resources Department.

  • Exception: If you pass the Reading K-12 exam, complete the application called District Add Endorsement.

All graduate level subject areas, i.e. Educational Leadership or School Counseling must be processed by the FLDOE and payment submitted directly to them.
