MISSION & PHILOSOPHY
The Palm City Elementary School PTA is an association of PCE parents, administrators and teachers who support the threefold mission of the Florida PTA:
To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
We work to influence the Martin County School Board, the Martin County Commission, the State Legislature and their respective staffs to make decisions that are in the best interest of the PCE school population.
To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise, protect and prepare their children;
We do this via: PTA general meetings, the Wildcat Chat newsletter, the Home and School Connection newsletter, flyers and various PTA sponsored programs and events.
To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this state.
We coordinate the many volunteer opportunities at PCE and encourage our parents and community to become involved at PCE. We perform fundraising events to supplement public resources and support education and enrichment activities at our school. We enter into mutually beneficial partnerships with the Palm City community. We also sponsor many events designed to encourage participation by the community in school programs and events.
Additionally, the purpose of the PTA, as set forth by the National PTA, is as follows:
To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship;
To raise the standards of home life;
To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth;
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
