ABOUT US
Pinewood Elementary School, located in Martin County, was constructed in 1988 and was the first new elementary school built in over ten years. Plans were submitted and approved for a $6.7 million, 97,000 square foot facility on an 11 acre wooded site.
Prior to the opening of the school, the students voted for Pinewood as the name of the school, aqua and white as the school colors, and the Florida panther as the mascot. The colors have since been changed to black and gold.
Pinewood was scheduled to open with approximately 770 students, but opened with 880. The following year enrollment soared to 1,104. This precipitated the opening of Crystal Lake Elementary School in 1990. The same blueprints were used to construct the new school. Pinewood's enrollment has since leveled off in the 810 student range. Currently, Pinewood Elementary serves students PreK-5th grade.
