Athletic Coach Certification
To be eligible to be a paid Athletic Coach, per Florida statute, the coach must hold an Athletic Coaching Certificate OR an Educator Certificate prior to coaching.
To apply for the Athletic Coaching Certificate, submit your application for a certificate to the FLDOE and pay the $75 fee.
To apply to a coaching position in the Martin County School District, fill out an application on our website.
Once you are recommended for hire to a coaching position, the Human Resources Department will begin your onboarding process, including a background check. Once the FLDOE receives the results of your background check, they will issue you the non-renewable, 3 year Athletic Coaching Certificate.
In order to receive a 5 year Athletic Coaching Certificate, you must complete the requirements listed on your Statement of Eligibility from the FLDOE. Martin County School District in partnership with Human Kinetics Coach Education offers coaches the opportunity to take the online courses Coaching Principles, Sport First Aid, and advanced sport-specific courses to meet the Florida Department of Education's Athletic Coaching Certification requirement.
Once you have completed these three courses, email copies of the course certificates and your current CPR card to the Human Resources Department to be submitted to the Florida Dept of Education. You will need to submit the online application for a 5 year Athletic Coaching Certificate and pay the $75 fee to the FLDOE
