The Martin County School District was honored with a HOPE Award by the House of Hope on Sept. 13, 2023.
The awards ceremony was held at Piper's Landing Yacht and Country Club, where attendees were treated to breakfast and some camaraderie. The room was filled with passionate individuals, community partners and businesses united by a common purpose: to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, friends and students who need a little extra support.
The District received the award for the longstanding partnership with the House of Hope through the Exceptional Student Education Department's Career Experiences Programs-- Martin S.A.I.L.S. and Project SEARCH.
Career Experiences provides opportunities for students with disabilities to gain and master job skills at businesses and organizations like House of Hope.
"These are real-world experiences with amazing job coaches that provide that very personalized support and assistance," Dr. Elizabeth Jekanowski, Career Experiences Program Specialist, said.
Our partnership with House of Hope is something the District truly appreciates. Working together, we can continue to positively impact.
