The Martin County School District has been awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) with the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 16th consecutive year.
The recognition is for the District's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
The GFOS introduced the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (Certificate Program) to promote and award the commitment of state and local governments to surpass basic accounting principles through comprehensive financial reports.
The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story.
"This achievement serves as a testament to our team's unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability," said Michael Maine, Superintendent of Schools. "It's a tribute to the relentless efforts and dedication of our staff, administrators, and board members and their perseverance in achieving excellence."
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
