The Martin County School District (MCSD) is excited to expand its Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs with the help of a $25 million dollar workforce development grant from the State of Florida.
MCSD is one of 19 school districts across the state to be awarded funding and will receive approximately $1,075,000.
This funding will enable the District to expand programs aimed at equipping students with the essential skills needed in high-demand occupations.
The District will use this newly-awarded funding to expand its applied information technology, criminal justice and medical/allied health programs, along with several others tailored to meet the evolving and demanding needs of the local job market.
"Expanding our Career & Technical Education programs is not just about real-world education; it's about positioning and empowering students to make an immediate impact and thrive in our local job market," said Superintendent Michael Maine. "By aligning our programming with the needs of our community, we're not only preparing students for success, but fueling economic growth and prosperity for Martin County."
CTE programs give high school students the opportunity to get a head start on preparing for post-secondary and/or future careers.
Each program provides students with the opportunity to benefit from hands-on training and real-world experience through clinicals, lab settings, job shadowing and internship opportunities.
All CTE programs offer students the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications and/or college credits from post-secondary institutions.
