High Schools Dominate FHSAA Academic Team Champion Program

On May 2, 2024, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) announced the Overall Academic Team Champions for the 2023-2024 school year. South Fork, Martin County and Jensen Beach high schools dominated the competition and earned a top-three finish in their respective classes.

South Fork High School earned first place in the state for Class 6A for the second consecutive year. Martin County High School placed second in Class 6A and Jensen Beach High School earned third in Class 5A.

The FHSAA Academic Team Champion recognition program honors teamwork not only in competition but also in the classroom. The program highlights teams in the FHSAA’s sanctioned and recognized sports, naming an Academic Team Champion in each classification. To qualify, a school’s individual sports team must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale. The teams’ grade point averages are then compared to all other schools in the state with similar enrollment sizes.

FHSAA also announced the Academic Team Champions for the 2024 Spring sports. Each District high school earned at least one top-five finish in a sport.
