The Martin County School Board approved the appointment of Ruth Spires as the Director of Transportation during its Regular School Board Meeting on May 21, 2024.
Ms. Spires brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, having served the district since 2006 in various capacities including Operations Manager, Route Specialist, Safety Specialist, and CDL Trainer.
Before joining the Martin County School District, Ms. Spires served the School District of Palm Beach County, where she gained experience as a bus driver, exceptional student education transporter and radio driver, among other roles.
Throughout her tenure in transportation, Ms. Spires has demonstrated her commitment to safety, efficiency and reliability in student transportation.
Ms. Spires will assume her new role on July 1, 2024, following the retirement of current director, Tom Hardin.
