Students with lunch debt are receiving the ultimate holiday gift—a fresh start for the new year!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the School Lunch Fairy, a 501(c)(3) charity founded by two compassionate students in Wellington, FL, the school lunch debt in the Martin County School District is being wiped clean once again.
This holiday season, the non-profit is spreading cheer by donating $3,000 to completely erase the balances of students’ unpaid lunch charges. The donation will assist 518 students in the District.
"This $3,000 donation from the School Lunch Fairy is a tremendous gift that helps us move closer to our mission of ending student hunger," shared Laura Holmedal, Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
School meal programs are vital to students' health and academic success. Research shows that children often receive their healthiest meals at school, making these programs even more impactful.
The District ensures that no student is ever turned away from receiving a meal due to inability to pay. Even students without funds are provided with a proper, nutritious meal—a commitment that aligns perfectly with the spirit of the season.
