AFSCME and Non-Bargaining

The Martin County School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce salary adjustments for employees in both the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Bargaining Unit (Local 597) and Non-Bargaining positions for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

These adjustments, approved retroactively to the first day of employees’ fiscal 2024-2025 contracts, reflect the district’s commitment to recognizing the dedication and performance of its staff.

AFSCME Bargaining Unit Members

Years of Experience Salary Adjustment (YES):

AFSCME Bargaining Unit Members (MBUs) will receive a permanent salary adjustment based on their verified years of experience with the District as of October 29, 2024. Verified years of experience outside the District shall not be included in the YES adjustment:

  • 0-19 years of experience: $50 per year of verified experience added to their base salary (e.g., an MBU with 10 years of experience will receive a $500 adjustment).

  • 20 or more years of experience: $75 per year of verified experience added to their base salary (e.g., an MBU with 20 years of experience will receive a $1,500 adjustment).

Across-the-Board Pay Increase:

All MBUs will also receive a 2.5% increase to their base salary, which will be applied before the YES adjustment.

Non-Bargaining Employees

Non-Bargaining employees, including school site principals, assistant principals, and eligible district-level staff, will receive salary adjustments based on their 2023-2024 performance evaluations:

  • Highly Effective: 3.5% increase to base salary.

  • Effective: 3.0% increase to base salary.

These adjustments are calculated on employees' base salaries only and exclude additional supplements. Eligibility criteria include:

  • Active employment status as of the date of Board approval (January 21, 2025).

  • Employees promoted to a non-bargaining position during fiscal year 2024-2025 will receive a prorated adjustment.

  • Employees on approved leave of absence and retirees during the fiscal year are eligible for retroactive payments.

  • These salary adjustments underscore the district’s dedication to supporting its employees and fostering excellence in education.
