The Martin County School District is excited to share that the third episode of its podcast, All In Martin, is available for the community to watch or listen to.
In the latest episode, host Kirstie Germaine sits down with Martin County natives Mr. Phillip Harvey and Mr. Godfrey Lee as they share their experiences growing up during segregation and witnessing desegregation firsthand. As former students of the Martin County School District, they reflect on their time at Stuart Training School, now known as Spectrum Academy, highlighting the educators who shaped their lives. They also discuss the legacy of influential Black leaders who graduated from STS, including Dr. Jack White, Dr. David L. Anderson, the Murray family, and many others.
The episode also features Stuart Middle School Principal Dr. Chris Jones, who shares insights into the District’s inaugural Black History Month Celebration. This highly anticipated, districtwide event will take place on February 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Stuart, located at 551 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
As co-chair of the event, Dr. Jones highlights the exciting lineup in store for the community, including engaging student performances, innovative dish samples crafted by Martin County High School’s culinary students, and delicious food available for purchase from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County’s Fork in the Road food truck.
Stay tuned for future episodes of All In Martin as we showcase District leaders, educators, students, and community members working together to achieve excellence in education.
