🇺🇲SAFE DELIVERY🇺🇲 Martin County Fire Rescue is all about rescuing people when they need help, and we appreciate them for their hard work. Unfortunately, for some of the eggs, no amount of firefighters could save them from their fate. That was up to Martin County School District students to create egg protection devices during the annual Egg Drop Competition! Of the 154 students who participated in this year's Egg Drop challenge, 52 eggs survived in their homemade protection devices. 💚THE WIZARDS OF SOUTH FORK💚 South Fork High School proudly hosted the Felix A. Williams Elementary and Jensen Beach Elementary School students for lunch and a show! Students got a sneak peek of the South Fork Drama Program The Wizard of Oz, performed under the guidance of Sheri Bryan. It was such a fantastic show that the kids gave it 10 stars out of 5! "Thank you to the Felix and Jensen teachers and chaperones for sharing some time at South Fork. The kids were WONDERFUL examples of the most precious resources Martin County has to offer! 💗SHARING THE LOVE💗 Felix A. Williams Elementary Student Council completed a mini service project and made Valentine's to deliver to seniors living at a local assisted living facility. 📚CELEBRATING OUR HISTORY📚 As our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth continues, we spotlight two brothers who were educational pioneers in Martin County, Charles E. and Robert G. Murray. Charles Murray founded the Stuart Training School in 1926 - this was the county's first high school for Black students. He remained principal until 1939 when his brother, Robert, took over. Stuart Training School eventually became Spectrum Academy and Murray Middle School was named after the brothers. #ALLINMartin👊

📚CELEBRATING LEADERS AND TRAILBLAZERS📚 Today, we celebrate our first of many local leaders in honor of #BlackHistoryMonth. Dr. David L. Anderson was an educational pioneer in Martin County, having served as a School Board Member and in various leadership roles at IRSC - Indian River State College for more than 30 years. In 2006, he was honored as the namesake of the Martin County School District's newest middle school - Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School. 🥧TASTEFUL CELEBRATION🥧 Who doesn't love a good pie? What about a pie to the face? Felix A. Williams Elementary Assistant Principal Justin Browning can answer that question! The 4th grade team at FAWE has raised over $5,000 for the Sailfish Sprint FUN RUN. So far, FAWE students have raised $20,000 altogether! The funds from the Fun Run go directly to FAWE and helps sponsor events like Sailfish Splash, Little Lady/Little Man dances, in-school field trips, author visits, Cox Science night, fourth grade frolic, and so much more! 🐝ICYMI: STELLAR SPELLERS SHINE🐝 The Martin County School District recently held the 57th Annual Lillian A. Dassori Elementary Spelling Bee at Jensen Beach High School. Students from all twelve of the District's elementary schools participated in seven rounds of competition, tackling tough words such as '"aardvark," "anathema," and "celestial." The winner of the Bee, Olivia Priddy from SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL, nailed the winning word, "eschew."
