Middle school students in the Martin County School District will soon discover the answer to the question, “Why do I need algebra?”
As part of its “Re-Engineering Algebra” program, the Education Foundation of Martin County is bringing “Engineers Teaching Algebra” to all five middle schools during the week of Jan. 8- Jan. 12.
Participating students learn from Mr. Mark Love, the founder of Engineers Teaching Algebra, how math is used to create traffic flows at intersections. Although his class focuses on civil engineering, Mr. Love highlights the use of algebra in numerous real-world applications.
