Jensen Beach Wrestling hosted the 11th annual Cradle Cancer Invitational this past weekend.
Girls’ Team: Sydney Jones finished in 2nd place and Brooke Van Etten was the Cradle Cancer Champion.
Boys’ Team: Trey Viens and Bradyen Hogg both finished in 6th place. Blake Elder and Sebastian Degennaro both won their weight classes and were also crowned Cradle Cancer Champions. The boys’ team finished 6th out of 38 teams!
Congratulations to the following Falcons for receiving TC Palm’s First Team All-Area Awards:
Girls’ swimming- Madison Newman. Madison was a Class 3A state qualifier in 1-meter diving, sixth at regionals, and the district champion!
Boys’ Cross-Country - J’Hani Styles. J’Hani Finished 51st (16:46.9) at the Class 3A state championships and Placed 14th at the Regional 4-3A meet with personal-best time (16:46.0), and then he placed sixth (16:48.3) at the District 7-3A meet.
Girls’ Cross-Country – Annabel DeTure and Madelyn Fischer. Annabel finished 49th (20:03.9) at the Class 3A state championships; Placed 11th at the Regional 4-3A meet with personal-best time (20:01.8); Eighth (20:12.7) at District 7-3A meet; Won King’s Academy Invite (19:46.2)
Madelyn Fischer Finished 93rd (20:47.9) at the Class 3A state championships; Placed 18th at the Regional 4-3A meet with personal-best time (20:42.7); Finished 18th (21:14.4) at the District 7-3A meet.
Football (Defense) - Carlos McCormack, Easton Scott, and Jalen Webley.
McCormack earned the title as the area’s sack king in 2024 as his 15 meetings with the opposing quarterback led all local players. McCormack made all the big plays with three caused fumbles and three safeties.
Scott - This four-year varsity player has been one of the area’s most underrated players. This year, he was probably the Falcons’ MVP thanks to a versatility that allowed him to chip in from all three levels of the defense. Scott led Jensen Beach in tackles (78) while being tied for the team lead in tackles for loss (15.0). He was also used offensively in special packages, scoring twice.
Webley wore out the stat sheet as teams threw in his direction and he answered the challenge. The sophomore was tied for the area lead in interceptions (4). He returned for a touchdown and racked up 14 passes defended. Webley added 29 total tackles, 4.0 of which for a loss and a sack.
Football (Offense)- Ethan Kolenut. According to Falcons head coach Tim Caffey, Kolenut possesses tremendous strength despite weighing in at only 235 pounds. The offensive lineman entered the season as a work in progress, but showed improvement every week, with Kolenut emerging as the best linemen in the unit. He was voted to the All-District 19 team.
Football (Special Teams)- Johnny Delancy. A star for the Falcons baseball team was certainly at home inside the Falcons’ football nest. Delancy finished as the team’s leading receiver and also snagged two interceptions on defense, but he gets the nod due to his work on special teams. His 76-yard kickoff return at the halftime buzzer allowed Jensen Beach to pull away in the season opener at South Fork. The senior followed that with a 95-yard return against Port St. Lucie.
Congratulations to the following Football players receiving the “Second Team” Award: Brayden Rambo, Junior Defense: 52 total tackles, 6 for a loss, 7 sacks. Alex Thornton, Sophomore Defense: 44 total tackles, 15 for a loss, 2 sacks. Jonny Ahern, Senior Quarterback: 97-for-187 passing, 1,393 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 298 rushing yards, 3 rushing TDs. Tristan Taylor, Senior Wide receiver: 20 receptions, 345 receiving yards, 7 TDs.
Congrats to the following Falcons on their Honorable Mentions: Mason Galdys in boys’ cross-country; Ava Vancour in girls’ cross-country; Dylond Holmes and Dominic Lucci football!
