Thurlow played a huge part in the Falcons’ winning the District 12-1A Flag Football Championship with a 7-0 victory over Suncoast on Apr. 28, catching the only touchdown of the game and had eight catches for 70 yards on the night. Earlier in the week, Thurlow caught two touchdowns in both the quarterfinal and semifinal games and added two interceptions on defense in three games. Congratulations, Julia! The softball team will travel to American Heritage this evening for their next game. Good luck, girls! The baseball team will be playing in the district tournament at Merritt Island today. ⚖CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARS SHINE⚖ In partnership with the Center for Constitutional Values' Scholarship Fund and the YMCA of The Treasure Coast, the Martin County School District held the final round of its annual Constitutional Academic Competition this week. Students from each District-operated high school debated the U.S. Supreme Court case "Miller v. Alabama" before presiding judges. The case addressed the constitutionality of enacting life sentences without parole for juveniles convicted of capital crimes. The program's goal is to encourage students' interests in science, engineering and mathematics while preparing them for certification as aircraft assemblers.
