🚍SCHOOL BUS SAFETY🚍
The Martin County School District is proud to celebrate #NationalSchoolBusSafetyWeek. School bus transportation plays a critical role in the education of our students - our buses travel more than 1.7 million miles each year!
Help promote safety in our community by exercising caution when sharing the roadways with our school buses. Limit distractions, obey all traffic laws and be mindful of students waiting at bus stops.

MCSD is one of just 16 Florida school districts - and the only district on the Treasure Coast - to earn the prestigious award for the 2020-2021 school year.

🍎LEARNING NEVER STOPS🍎
J. D. Parker School of Math, Science and Technology teachers collaborate on a regular basis to ensure the best outcomes for their students. Last week, fifth-grade teachers worked on breaking down their upcoming learning unit. They started with the assessment and worked their way backwards, which helps them focus on what is critical for students to learn.
"We expect excellence so we plan for excellence!" Principal Rathnaw shared.

If your child took one or more FSAs or EOCs last school year and you have not received their individual score report(s) by tomorrow evening, please contact their school for assistance. As the score reports are distributed to school districts in hard copy format from the Florida Department of Education, they will not be available for viewing in the FOCUS Parent Portal.

🍎LEARNING IN ACTION🍎
Superintendent John D. Millay observed teachers and students diving into daily #Fundations and #Benchmark English Language Arts (ELA) lessons at J. D. Parker Elementary School this morning.
Earlier this year, the Martin County School Board adopted new K-12 instructional materials for ELA that are fully aligned to the Florida Department of Education's B.E.S.T. standards. The complete curriculum adoption was funded in part with proceeds generated by the half-mill property tax referendum that was approved by Martin County voters in 2018.
"Student engagement has been off the charts," Dr. Millay shared. "This is what we love to see when participating in learning walks and observing instruction. More of that!"
