The Martin County School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Aitken will be transitioning to the role of Assistant Principal at Martin County High School. Dr. Aitken, who currently serves as a District Administrator in the School Improvement department, brings a wealth of leadership experience and a deep commitment to student achievement and school transformation.
Dr. Aitken has dedicated more than two decades to education, serving in a variety of leadership roles that have positively impacted schools and students. His experience includes serving as Principal of South Fork High School, where he implemented innovative professional learning systems and fostered a culture of collaboration among staff. Prior to that, he led Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School to significant academic gains, transforming it from a D-rated school to an A-rated institution and earning a Governor’s Award for student achievement.
Throughout his career, Dr. Aitken has been instrumental in developing systems to support student success, cultivating strong relationships with educators, and driving continuous school improvement efforts. His leadership in the School Improvement department has played a vital role in strengthening instructional practices across the district.
Dr. Aitken holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wesley College. He is a graduate of the National Institute of School Leadership (NISL) and has presented at local and national conferences on topics such as instructional practices and school achievement strategies.
As he steps into his new role, Dr. Aitken will focus on fostering student success, supporting teachers, and working collaboratively with the administrative team to uphold the tradition of excellence at Martin County High School. His vast experience and passion for education will be invaluable in continuing to enhance the learning environment for students and staff alike.
