🎄 MCHS ENG3 and AICE Gen Paper: Celebrating the Spirit of the Season Through Literature and Research! ✨
In Mrs. Brandenburg's ENG3 (American Literature) class, we’re diving into Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s Christmas Bells, written on Christmas Day, December 25, 1863, as he reflected on the pain of his son’s injury during the Civil War. It's a powerful poem about hope, peace, and resilience. After analyzing its themes, our students are creatively bringing the poem to life by writing it on a lined template and coloring two additional ones to create ornaments for display! 🎨🎄
Meanwhile, her AICE Gen Paper students are exploring the history and significance of holidays. From National Hugging Day to Superbowl Sunday and Groundhog Day, they’re researching everything from origins and cultural traditions to foods, attire, and activities to create their own unique holiday ornaments. 📝🌍
It's amazing to see our students engage in such meaningful work, connecting history, literature, and creativity in beautiful ways!

🎉🏆 A Victory That Means So Much More 🏆🎉
A huge congratulations to MCHS Coach John Leon on what we can confidently say is one of the biggest victories of his career! 🏅 But this victory wasn’t just about the scoreboard—it was about the impact our student-athletes had on our MCSD community.
The joy on the faces of Hope Rural kids and our student athletes was contagious when the MCHS basketball team visited Hope Rural in Indiantown. But it didn’t stop there. Our student-athletes went above and beyond, spreading kindness by reading books to PK through 3rd graders and visiting 4th and 5th grade classrooms with words of encouragement. 📚✨
Our MCHS parents couldn’t be more proud of how our athletes performed—not just on the field, but off of it as well. This victory is a testament to the strength of teamwork, character, and the power of positive influence.
Here’s to Coach Leon, our incredible athletes, and a community that supports and uplifts one another! 🙌💙

🌟 Shoutout to Mr. Scott Crelin for his innovative use of the WICOR "Inquiry" Professional Development strategies in the classroom! 🌟
Students had the opportunity to dive into a creative and thought-provoking activity where they explored the fascinating world of dreams. 💤 Using random dream topics like teeth, falling, and being trapped, they crafted their own unique dreams through a stream of consciousness exercise. ✨
To bring it all to life, they created powerful images that represented the tone of their dream, followed by a gallery walk where they shared their creations and provided thoughtful feedback to their peers. 🎨💬
Mr. Crelin’s approach not only engaged students in critical thinking but also encouraged creativity and collaboration in a fun and meaningful way. 🙌

🌱🌍 Our MCHS AICE Environmental Management students are putting their knowledge into action! 🌍🌱
After diving deep into the traits of invasive species, these students took their learning a step further by researching an invasive species they found intriguing. They then created informative brochures that highlight the species' impact on local ecosystems, its effects on plants and animals, and ways we can help prevent its spread. 📚🌿
Their dedication to understanding environmental issues and educating others is truly inspiring! 🌟 It’s amazing to see how these students are helping spread awareness and protect our planet’s biodiversity. 🌎
