Students in Ms. Stuvel’s AICE English Language classes at MCHS are sharpening their analytical skills by comparing voice and viewpoints across different types of texts.
Through close reading and discussion, students are learning how narrative perspective shapes meaning, influences credibility, and impacts how readers interpret a message. From authorial voice to point of view, they’re discovering that how a story is told can be just as powerful as what is being said.
This work challenges students to think deeply, question perspectives, and become more intentional readers and writers—skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

Our MCHS AVID students recently had the opportunity to learn more about careers in the technology industry, including what it takes to manage client relationships and deliver complex software solutions.
Through this career exploration experience, students gained valuable insight into the many pathways available in tech—from account management to client delivery and beyond. Real‑world examples helped students connect classroom skills to professional success and better understand how collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving play a critical role in the field.
A big thank you to Vicky Ceo, Software Account Manager and Client Delivery Lead with Arcesium, for sharing her expertise and inspiring our students to think broadly about their futures in technology.

Our AVID students were thrilled to hear from Terrill Newell of Poo Tang Reefs, who shared his incredible journey as an aquaculture coral specialist and farmer. From starting his small business from the ground up to navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship, Terrill gave students an honest, behind‑the‑scenes look at what it takes to build a career you love.
He emphasized the importance of hard work, self‑advocacy, and believing in your vision, while showing how passion and persistence fuel long‑term success. His story was both inspiring and eye‑opening, proving that with dedication and drive, unique career paths—especially in marine and environmental fields—are absolutely possible!
