A huge thank you to Alex Kershawโwidely acclaimed, prizeโwinning, New York Times bestselling author of twelve booksโfor spending the day with our students and delivering his powerful presentation, โThe First Wave.โ
As the resident historian for the Friends of the National World War II Memorial, Mr. Kershaw brought an extraordinary depth of knowledge and passion to our campus. He transported students back to June 6, 1944, sharing the gripping stories of the brave soldiers who led the way on DโDay.
From paratroopers and glider troops to Rangers and commandos, his vivid storytelling illuminated key moments at Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc, and the Merville Battery, helping students better understand the courage, sacrifice, and strategy that shaped the success of the Allied invasion.
Our students were truly impressedโnot only by his expertise, but by the time, enthusiasm, and genuine care he poured into speaking with them. Experiences like this remind us why learning matters and how powerful it can be when history is told by those who live and breathe it.
Thank you, Mr. Kershaw, for inspiring the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and historians! ๐บ๐ธ๐
