📚🎉 The MCSD English Language Arts team is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Read, IXL, Succeed!” leaderboard challenge, just in time for Celebrate Literacy Week (January 27-31, 2025)! This exciting, district-wide competition is all about Building Literacy, Constructing the Foundation for Success – and we’re inviting all students to join the fun! 🗓 Challenge Dates: Friday, January 25th at 5:00 PM EST – Friday, January 31st at 5:00 PM EST 🎯 Objective: Schools will compete to get the highest number of ELA skills to proficiency (SmartScore of 80 or higher) on IXL ELA! This year’s theme is “Honoring African American Contributions to Florida’s Success” — an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and research while celebrating the influential African Americans who’ve shaped our state’s history. 🎨 Art Contest (Grades K-3): Submit original, two-dimensional artwork inspired by this theme. Four winners will receive a $100 gift card for school supplies and a 1-year pass to Florida State Parks! 📝 Essay Contest (Grades 4-12): Write about an African American who has had an impactful effect on Florida’s success. Angie started working at The Pinewood Elementary while attending college and now proudly leads at Warfield.
