🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Please join us in congratulating Ms. Rebecca Herring on her retirement after an incredible 41 years of serving Martin County School District's students—and their kids, and their kids! A true pioneer of home economics, Ms. Herring taught students how to sew, budget, and care for their first “babies” (yes, the battery-powered ones!). From South Fork High School to Jensen Beach High School and Martin County High School, she poured her heart into every lesson, especially in recent years as an intensive reading teacher helping students cross the graduation stage. Superintendent Michael Maine and the School Board were proud to celebrate the impact she's made on generations of MCSD students. 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 During Tuesday evening’s School Board meeting, Superintendent Michael Maine and Board members proudly honored the career of Ms. Lizabeth Careccia. Ms. Careccia has served the Martin County School District for 26 years (technically longer when counting her time as a substitute), beginning as a 1st grade teacher in 1999. She spent over a decade in the classroom before transitioning first to SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL, and then Martin County High School in 2019 as an Intervention Problem-Solving Coach. Her dedication to students, families, and colleagues has left a meaningful mark. 🏅CELEBRATING LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE🏅 Congratulations to the Martin County High School Air Force JROTC cadets and instructors on being selected for the 2024–2025 AFJROTC Distinguished Unit Award! This national recognition honors programs that go above and beyond in service, leadership, and character development—and the Tigers did just that. With a 93% score on the Regional Director’s annual assessment and cadets logging an average of 16+ community service hours, the unit truly stood out. Special shoutout to Cadet Kai Lawrence for leading the way with 61.62 hours of service! The Tigers were led by Katelyn Hardy, Fall 2024 Cadet Commander, and Santiago Pacheco, Spring 2025 Cadet Commander. A big congratulations also goes to instructors Sgt. Scott Chamberlain and Lt. Col. 🧃☀️FREE SUMMER MEALS FOR STUDENTS🧃☀️ School may be out, but nutritious meals are still in! The Martin County School District will be serving free breakfast and lunch for all children 18 and under at select school sites starting Monday, June 2, 2025, with no income restrictions. Meal service dates and times will vary by location. Children must remain on location while they are eating their meals. Our Summer Feeding Bus is back as well!
