❄YEAR IN REVIEW: WINTER BREAK COUNTDOWN❄
1979 to 2022. It was a long time coming, but…
was there ever any doubt?! 🐅🏀🥇🏆
After 43 years of trying to repeat their last championship, Martin County High School's Boys Varsity Basketball team earned the Florida High School Athletic Association's Class 6A title in March!
In addition to their tremendous success on the court, these Tiger scholar-athletes maintain a collective 3.26 GPA, ranking #8 academically out of more than 100 Florida high school teams in their classification! 🎓😤
Proud MCHS alum and current Denver Broncos Safety Justin Simmons engaged #MCSDTheRippleEffect, honoring the team by purchasing their championship rings.

❄YEAR IN REVIEW: WINTER BREAK COUNTDOWN❄
It’s safe to say Martin County High School senior Sophie Araque-Liu was not expecting actress, musician, entrepreneur and philanthropist Selena Gomez to join her video chat with representatives of Google in August.
Then again, it’s not every day one is crowned a national #DoodleforGoogle champion! Sophie knows this fact very well- she’s faithfully entered the competition every year since middle school, honing her skills while hoping the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity would be hers. This year’s topic, “I care for myself by…” spoke to Sophie in a profoundly personal way. She thought about times she has struggled and attempted to find balance in her life, remembering the many people (her mom in particular) who helped her along the way.
Thanks in part to our generous Martin County community members, who went #ALLINMartin👊Sophie earned a $30,000 college scholarship for herself and $50,000 for the establishment or improvement of a tech lab at MCHS! View a recap of Sophie's win below, as shared by Ari Hait WPBF/ WPBF 25 News.
