At MCHS, learning doesn't stop when the dismissal bell rings!
On our Early Release Day, after students were dismissed at 1:15 PM, our dedicated teachers spent the afternoon engaged in professional learning designed to support student success. Staff participated in sessions focused on:
✅ Understanding the MCSD Student Progression Plan
✅ Grading practices and what our gradebooks communicate to students and families
✅ Standards-Based Grading
✅ Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
✅ Classroom and testing accommodations that help ensure every student has the support they need

Students in Dr. Tucker's AICE English Language classes recently dove into a collection of thought-provoking articles from Upfront Magazine, selecting topics that matched their individual interests and curiosities.
As part of their coursework, students analyzed each article's context, audience, purpose, mood, and tone, developing a deeper understanding of how authors craft messages for different readers. Through close reading and thoughtful discussion, they strengthened essential critical thinking and communication skills that prepare them for success in advanced academics and beyond.
By connecting personal interests with rigorous analysis, these students demonstrated that strong readers don't just understand what an author says, but also how and why the message is delivered.

Constitution Week officially begins on September 17, but Martin County School District students are already getting a head start!
Further highlighting the importance of this annual observance, the Martin County School Board approved the 2026 Constitution Week Proclamation at Tuesday night's meeting, developed with Ms. Rae Scimeca and the Halpatiokee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
As we recognize the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, students across the District will spend the week learning about the document that continues to shape our nation and protect our freedoms.

The day celebrates Dolly Parton’s remarkable contributions to children and literacy, along with the impact of programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in helping young readers build a lifelong love of books.

Our MCHS AVID students had the privilege of welcoming Laura O'Neil from Big Brothers Big Sisters to learn about their incredible School-to-Work Program!
This program connects students with professional mentors, introduces them to exciting career pathways, helps develop workplace skills, and provides valuable real-world experiences as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Laura also shared her personal journey working in the nonprofit sector and spoke passionately about the fulfillment that comes from helping others. Her story was a powerful reminder that success is not only about building a career, but also about making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Students in Mrs. Falzon’s AICE International History class are showcasing their learning from Unit 0 through creative and insightful one-pagers that highlight both historical knowledge and essential AICE skills!
From the Age of Exploration to the Unification of Germany and Italy and the transformative impact of the Industrial Revolution, students are demonstrating their understanding through thoughtful analysis and creative design.
Their projects feature key AICE skills, including:
🔹 PEEL writing to build clear, evidence-based historical arguments
🔹 Perspective Analysis to examine how an author's beliefs, experiences, and circumstances influence historical sources
🔹 Document Analysis using primary sources to evaluate and better understand historical events
These one-pagers challenge students to think critically, make meaningful connections, support their ideas with evidence, and communicate their learning in engaging and innovative ways.

📢 MCHS AICE FALL 2026 RETAKE REGISTRATION REMINDER
The deadline to register for AICE retakes for the Fall 2026 exam series is Wednesday, September 16!
If you are interested in retaking an AICE exam, you must:
✅ Submit the Microsoft Form linked below
✅ Submit payment of $150 per exam (unless you qualify for financial aid)
⏰ IMPORTANT: Registrations submitted after September 16 may be subject to an additional $73.55 late fee.
Retakes are optional, but in many cases, they are strongly recommended based on your AICE Diploma track. If you are unsure whether you should retake an exam, please reach out before the deadline.
