📚✨ HISTORY CAME ALIVE AT MCHS! ✨📚
A huge thank you to Alex Kershaw—widely acclaimed, prize‑winning, New York Times bestselling author of twelve books—for spending the day with our students and delivering his powerful presentation, “The First Wave.”
As the resident historian for the Friends of the National World War II Memorial, Mr. Kershaw brought an extraordinary depth of knowledge and passion to our campus. He transported students back to June 6, 1944, sharing the gripping stories of the brave soldiers who led the way on D‑Day.
From paratroopers and glider troops to Rangers and commandos, his vivid storytelling illuminated key moments at Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc, and the Merville Battery, helping students better understand the courage, sacrifice, and strategy that shaped the success of the Allied invasion.
Our students were truly impressed—not only by his expertise, but by the time, enthusiasm, and genuine care he poured into speaking with them. Experiences like this remind us why learning matters and how powerful it can be when history is told by those who live and breathe it.
Thank you, Mr. Kershaw, for inspiring the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and historians! 🇺🇸📖

📚✨ Critical Thinking in Action in AICE English Language! ✨📚
Students in Ms. Stuvel’s AICE English Language classes at MCHS are sharpening their analytical skills by comparing voice and viewpoints across different types of texts.
Through close reading and discussion, students are learning how narrative perspective shapes meaning, influences credibility, and impacts how readers interpret a message. From authorial voice to point of view, they’re discovering that how a story is told can be just as powerful as what is being said.
This work challenges students to think deeply, question perspectives, and become more intentional readers and writers—skills that extend well beyond the classroom.
👏 Way to go, Tigers, for engaging thoughtfully with text and elevating your literary analysis!
