This year, we are celebrating the 236th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution! On August 15, 2023, the Martin County School Board approved the 2023 Proclamation for Constitution Week, which was drafted in partnership with Ms. Portia B. Scott and the Halpatiokee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Hurricane Idalia is rapidly approaching the west coast of Florida and is expected to bring powerful winds and storm surge as it approaches Category 3 strength. While Martin County is not currently operating under any storm-related watches or warnings, our area is expected to experience heavy rains and wind gusts from the storm. Any time severe weather has the potential to impact our area, the Martin County School District works closely with national, state, and county management officials, including the Martin County Emergency Operations Center, to determine how operations may be impacted. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and families. We will continue to monitor the path of the storm and will provide updates as needed through our mass notification (callout/text) system, website and social media channels. We encourage families and employees to make necessary preparations that will help ensure their safety during severe weather conditions, such as reviewing emergency plans and stocking up on essential supplies. We encourage you to take advantage of the Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which began this past weekend. It lasts until Friday, September 8. We appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we continue to monitor local weather conditions.

🌟ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH AVID🌟 The Martin County School District's AVID program is growing! AVID stands for AVID stands for "Advancement Via Individual Determination. Murray Middle School is one of the schools implementing AVID, which is a program that focuses on preparing students for college and career success. It equips them with the academic, organizational, and critical thinking skills necessary for higher education or career readiness. AVID doesn't just focus on academics; it also helps students develop life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success beyond the classroom. Murray Middle, Stuart Middle School and Warfield Elementary are in the planning phase of adding AVID to their schools. Next year, the program will be fully implemented! Does you student need a Sports Physical for Middle School Sports? On Wednesday, August 16th from 5-7pm students can get a sports physical for only $20 (Cash or check). This event will take place at South Florida Orthopedics & Sports Medicine located at 1050 SE Monterey Road, Suite 400, Stuart Florida. Students will need to bring the Martin County School District Sport Physical forms which can be obtained at MMS in Mrs. Simko's office (Building 102, Room 117). New-to-MMS-Parents - if your child is a car rider, the drop off & pickup happens in the front parking lot (single-file car line for drop off, double line for pickup). Please pull all the way forward to allow as many cars as possible to pull up behind you. We provide supervision a half hour before and up to a half hour after our student hours for your convenience.
