On Aug. 2, 2023, the Martin County School District participated in three ribbon-cutting ceremonies for brand-new school facilities: Jensen Beach Elementary School, Indiantown High School and Palm City Elementary School.
The dream of new school buildings for Palm City Elementary and Jensen Beach Elementary became a reality when Martin County taxpayers approved a half-cent sales tax in Nov. 2018.
At the time, Palm City Elementary was about 60 years old, and Jensen Beach Elementary was about 48 years old. Both were in need of replacement in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students.
“As we stand here looking at this fantastic new facility, it is essential to recognize the backbone of this community, our incredible Martin County taxpayers," Superintendent Michael Maine shared at the Palm City Elementary School ribbon cutting. "Your continuous support and investment in education have made this building possible.”
Indiantown High School is a public charter high school focused on career and workforce education. It is operated by Indian River State College (IRSC) in partnership with the Martin County School District.
"Everyone at the School District has been a wonderful partner in making this happen," Marsha Powers, School Board Chair, shared at the Indiantown High ribbon cutting. "I know under the leadership of Superintendent Maine we will only build a stronger relationship with Indian River State College and the Village of Indiantown. So, I thank you all for your continued support.”
