🎨CREATIVE COLLABORATORS 🎨
Art educators in the Martin County School District recently attended the annual Florida Art Education Association (FAEA) Professional Development Conference in Pointe Vedra, FL. FAEA is the only professional development solely for art educators and allows art instructors from across the state to collaborate and learn from each other.
Our art educators not only gained valuable knowledge from fellow teachers, they also conducted workshops and hosted art forums during the conference themselves! Mrs. Sheryl Odza (Stuart Middle School) and Mrs. Leah Sacks (J.D. Parker Elementary School) presented workshops and art forums. Mrs. Melissa Nelson (Hidden Oaks Middle School) assisted in a workshop session, creating the presentation for the Royal & Langnickel Classroom Mr. Brush figurine. Mrs. Ashley Monks (Port Salerno Elementary School) facilitated many workshops throughout the conference.
Thanks to the MCSD Curriculum and Instruction Department, these fantastic art teachers are coming back to their classrooms with creative minds full of new strategies, concepts, and dynamic projects for our students!

🍎🎮LEVELING UP LUNCH🎮🍎
Let's get ready to level up with school lunch!
Celebrate National School Lunch Week with the Martin County School District during Oct. 9-13! Our Food and Nutrition Services teams have been practicing their gaming skills and perfecting the menus for their schools.
National School Lunch Week highlights the nutritious foods available daily at each school in the District. It's also a chance to bring awareness of the importance of healthy food choices at school.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium,” said Laura Holmedal, MCSD's Director of Food and Nutrition Services. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.”

⚠️NATIONWIDE ALERT⚠️
Around this time tomorrow, the Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission are planning to test both the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).
The test will occur Wednesday, October 4, at 2:20 p.m. It will be conducted in two parts, with one set to go to cell phones and the other to radio and TV stations.
FEMA says the alert will have a unique tone and vibration to make the alert accessible to all recipients. Phones should receive the message only once in the 30 minutes after the test begins on Wednesday.

➕✖️📐MAKING MATH MEMORIES📐✖️➕
Last night, Port Salerno Elementary School kicked off the first Family Math Night of the 23-24 school year, and it was math-tastic!
Families were lined up out the door, waiting to dive into fun math-related games. Students showed off their math skills, participating in a number of B.E.S.T.-aligned (Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) and grade-appropriate math games.
Activities included counting money and determining whether there was enough to purchase an item from the 'store,' rolling dice and 'racing to 100,' duplicating patterns, and more!
Students who attended even got to take math kits and math-related books so the fun could continue at home! What a great event our fabulous math department, PSE's Math Coach and PSE staff put on!
Keep an eye out for a Family Math Night coming to your elementary school! Tonight is SeaWind Elementary's turn! 📐✖️➕
