Trustworthiness. Respect. Responsibility. Fairness. Caring. Citizenship. These six pillars of character are the core ethical values of CHARACTER COUNTS! program, which has historically provided the Martin County School District with a meaningful, measurable and sustainable framework to help schools build students' character traits and shape a positive learning environment.
"The Character Counts! program is an integral part of our efforts to educate all Martin County students for success," said Dr. John D. Millay, Superintendent of Schools. "Ensuring students are prepared for success after high school and as they enter adulthood means providing education beyond academics. Positive character traits are essential life skills. We know both academic and personal outcomes are greatly improved when students are surrounded by a learning community that emphasizes traits of good character."
On October 18, 2022, the Martin County School Board proclaimed the week of October 16 – 22, 2022, as “Character Counts!” Week. Read the proclamation here.
