Hurricane Idalia is rapidly approaching the west coast of Florida and is expected to bring powerful winds and storm surge as it approaches Category 3 strength. While Martin County is not currently operating under any storm-related watches or warnings, our area is expected to experience heavy rains and wind gusts from the storm. Any time severe weather has the potential to impact our area, the Martin County School District works closely with national, state, and county management officials, including the Martin County Emergency Operations Center, to determine how operations may be impacted. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and families. We will continue to monitor the path of the storm and will provide updates as needed through our mass notification (callout/text) system, website and social media channels. We encourage families and employees to make necessary preparations that will help ensure their safety during severe weather conditions, such as reviewing emergency plans and stocking up on essential supplies. We encourage you to take advantage of the Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which began this past weekend. It lasts until Friday, September 8. We appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we continue to monitor local weather conditions.

🌟ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH AVID🌟 The Martin County School District's AVID program is growing! AVID stands for AVID stands for "Advancement Via Individual Determination. Murray Middle School is one of the schools implementing AVID, which is a program that focuses on preparing students for college and career success. It equips them with the academic, organizational, and critical thinking skills necessary for higher education or career readiness. AVID doesn't just focus on academics; it also helps students develop life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success beyond the classroom. Murray Middle, Stuart Middle School and Warfield Elementary are in the planning phase of adding AVID to their schools. Next year, the program will be fully implemented! 📚🧩LIBRARY OASIS🧩📚 Lunch has a whole new look this year at Stuart Middle School! After lunch, Stuart Middle's media center transforms into an oasis of fun and relaxation! Students are allowed to go to the media center to enjoy board games, coloring, arts and crafts, and more when they are finished with lunch. 🚗TRAVELING THE MAINE ROAD🚗 Traveling the MAINE Road to the #1 spot by providing tailored, consistent and meaningful support to each of our schools! 🍎 Superintendent of Schools Michael Maine visited Spectrum Academy and Warfield Elementary School in the morning. In the afternoon, Mr. Maine caught up with Assistant Superintendent of Academics, Mr. Troy LaBarbara, at the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center. 🍎 Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Lisa Estevez stopped by Jensen Beach Elementary School and Jensen Beach High School. 🍎 Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Julie Sessa visited Hidden Oaks Middle School, Stuart Middle School and ran into Mrs. Estevez at Jensen Beach High School. These site visits are beneficial for several reasons! District leaders are inspired by the creativity, innovation, and passion they witness in the classrooms. ☀️🌊#MCSDSummerAdventures☀️🌊 Martin County High School student Kate and her brother Luke, a Stuart Middle School student, took a summer trip to the United Kingdom with their family! "We stayed in and explored London and Cambridge in England, and also Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland," mom Jacqueline shared. "It was fun to see so many sites and landmarks that have been important throughout world history. We saw Big Ben, the Tower of London, Kensington and Buckingham Palace, and much more. We braved the tube system 🚇 and “mind the gap” each time. We visited the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and The British Museum in London. There we browsed through many exhibits of scientific, historical, and artistic importance. Kate has just completed the Cambridge Assessment International Education program at MCHS, so visiting the University of Cambridge was especially enriching. Both students also row with Treasure Coast Rowing Club and we watched many rowers in action in Cambridge." #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud
