🐾CLASHING FOR CHARITY🐾 Every year, the South Fork High School Student Government Association promotes Clash of the Classes, pitting the classes against each other in friendly competition. One of the components is the Penny Wars, where students add pennies for positive points for their class and put silver coins in other class jars to take points away. Each year, the SGA chooses a local charity to donate all the proceeds. This year, they chose Operation 300, a local non-profit organization that mentors children of Gold and White Star families. SFHS students raised $1,618 for Operation 300, nearly $400 more than last year! Way to go, Bulldogs! #ALLINMartin👊 #MCSDBetterTogether💫

Our Food and Nutrition Services teams have been practicing their gaming skills and perfecting the menus for their schools. National School Lunch Week highlights the nutritious foods available daily at each school in the District. 🪴🛠️PLANTING KNOWLEDGE🛠️🪴 Five Martin County School District plant operators recently ventured to the annual Florida School Plant Management Association (FSPMA) conference to grow their job knowledge and skills. Steve Miller (The Pinewood Elementary), Gilberto Calderon (Bessey Creek Elementary School), Jonathan Sequiera (Crystal Lake Elementary School), Edgardo Rivera (Jensen Beach Elementary School), and Dana Martin (SDO) attended the conference along with our Safety Manager, Mark Cocco. They learned important health and safety updates from the Florida Department of Education and engaged in learning about maintenance and proper groundskeeping. Steve Miller was lucky enough to even participate in the podcast "Beyond Clean with ACE!" We look forward to the knowledge plant operators will be sharing after the conference. ⚠️NATIONWIDE ALERT⚠️ Around this time tomorrow, the Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission are planning to test both the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The test will occur Wednesday, October 4, at 2:20 p.m. It will be conducted in two parts, with one set to go to cell phones and the other to radio and TV stations. FEMA says the alert will have a unique tone and vibration to make the alert accessible to all recipients. Phones should receive the message only once in the 30 minutes after the test begins on Wednesday. #ALLINMartin👊

📚PRESERVING MEMORIES📚 High school yearbook teams recently created their own memories as they gained experience to preserve the memories for their classmates. The yearbook teams at Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School ventured to Pompano Beach High School for the District 7 Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA) workshop. More than 850 students gathered to learn tips and tricks from professionals in journalism and yearbook production. ➕✖️📐MAKING MATH MEMORIES📐✖️➕ Last night, Port Salerno Elementary School kicked off the first Family Math Night of the 23-24 school year, and it was math-tastic! Families were lined up out the door, waiting to dive into fun math-related games. Students showed off their math skills, participating in a number of B.E.S.T.-aligned (Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) and grade-appropriate math games. Activities included counting money and determining whether there was enough to purchase an item from the 'store,' rolling dice and 'racing to 100,' duplicating patterns, and more! Students who attended even got to take math kits and math-related books so the fun could continue at home! What a great event our fabulous math department, PSE's Math Coach and PSE staff put on! 🏵️CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE🏵️ Felix A. Williams Elementary staff recently enjoyed celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by sampling homecooked food prepared by Paraprofessional Ana Ocasio! Ana generously shared her heritage with her colleagues by making family recipes such as Pigeon Peas and Rice, Pork Shoulder, Elbow Salad, Chicken Rice Soup, and Flancake!
