MartinArts recently hosted its 38th annual Marvin S. Cone High School Juried Arts Show, allowing young artists in our community the opportunity to be publicly recognized for their talent and creativity!
Make sure to visit the the Court House Cultural Center to see artwork from Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School students. Their artwork will be displayed through June 22.

📚 ODYSSEY OF THE MIND 🧠
During Tuesday night's School Board Meeting, Odyssey of the Mind teams from Jensen Beach Elementary School and Palm City Elementary School were recognized for brilliant minds!
Both schools recently competed at the state-level competition where Palm City Elementary placed 3rd.

Students were celebrated for this outstanding achievement during the Perfect Score Awards Ceremony last Monday.

MCSD 🤝 MCEA
The District and teacher's union reached a tentative agreement for the 2023-2024 school year.
In the coming weeks, MCEA bargaining unit-eligible members will vote to ratify the agreement. Then, the Martin County School Board can proceed with its ratification at its Regular Meeting scheduled for May 21.
Once ratified, the Martin County School District will be the highest overall paying District on the Treasure Coast.

The Martin County High School Wind Ensemble will present its final concert of the academic year on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the MCHS Auditorium.
Featured guest artist will be Randall Haynes (D.M., Florida State University) performing "Concerto for Trumpet" by Alexander Arutiunian.

Murray Middle School 8th grade students Juan Luis Domingo, Alex Flores Gallegos, Catarina Domingo Jimenez, Lydia Vestrem, Claire Rawlings and Samantha Burton were nominated for the Joe Kordick Awards.
The program, sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County, awards students who demonstrate the six pillars of CHARACTER COUNTS: Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
Congratulations to the nominees! Winners for 8th and 12th grade levels will be recognized tonight at this year's Joe Kordick Awards.

Last week, Martin County High School Career and Technical Education students represented the Martin County School District at the SkillsUSA Florida contest in Jacksonville.
SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization that empowers its members to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. During the contests, students participate in competitions, gain hands-on experience, and develop essential skills in their chosen fields.

🎉CELEBRATING MATHLETES🎉
This past weekend, all Martin County School District-operated elementary schools participated in the 2nd Annual MCSD 5th Grade Math Olympics!
The arena: Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School. The events: individual and team rounds in problem-solving, critical thinking, and speed math. Every team was shooting for gold, but after the calculations were tallied, the Crystal Lake Elementary School Hawks won the gold, earning the title of District Champion.
The Jensen Beach Elementary School Vikings took home silver and the J.D. Parker Elementary School Rockets got the bronze.

🌟 FOREVER A FALCON 🌟
During last Tuesday's School Board Meeting, the District celebrated the career of Jensen Beach High School Teacher, Michael Sawtelle.
Mr. Sawtelle has worked in the Martin County School District for the past 35 years after beginning his career in August of 1989.
During that time, Mr. Sawtelle taught physical education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Mr. Sawtelle also coached volleyball in the District for 25 years, winning five state titles and being named the Florida High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year six times.
It's safe to say Mr. Sawtelle will be missed in our District. We wish him the very best in retirement. Thank you, Mr. Sawtelle!
