⭐️CELEBRATING CHARACTER⭐️
All week long, Martin County School District students celebrated good character!
Each day, students and staff represented the six pillars of Character Counts:
💙Trustworthiness
💛Respect
🧡Fairness
❤️Caring
💚Responsibility
💜Citizenship
We are thankful to our community partners who help support the Character COUNTS program in our schools, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County and Lively & Napoli Orthodontics, who provided the special Character COUNTS t-shirts Citrus Grove Elementary School kindergarten students are wearing!

Furry friends have the best listening ears! 🐾🐾
Paws to Read dogs and their owners recently visited Murray Middle School for their weekly visit, helping our students grow their reading skills.
This is a very special program our students at MMS love dearly! We are grateful to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, the dogs and their handlers for building confidence in students who have difficulty reading.
This is being #MCSDBetterTogether!

🎉CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE🎉
Congratulations to Jensen Beach High School students Jaxon McIntyre and Matthew Elder for being named the Youth Entrepreneur of the Year at the Business Development Board of Martin County Business Awards!
Each year, the Business Development Board of Martin County (BDBMC), with its economic and community partners, celebrates businesses and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Martin County’s economy and community.
Coach Brent Mahieu, the Entrepreneurship Academy instructor at JBHS, nominated these two students for the creation and success of their business, J&M Window Cleaning Service. Since the launch of their business, Jaxon and Matthew have attained 50 clients and generated nearly $5,000 in revenue. Their ambition and willingness to take on an undesirable household task captured the admiration of the selection committee.
Congratulations, Jaxon and Matthew!

🚍SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK🚍
Did you know school buses are the safest way for students to travel?
Our school buses carry precious cargo – our children! For National School Bus Safety Week, here are some tips motorists should keep in mind to help ensure the safety of our children:
🚌Motorists are required to stop when approaching a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing and STOP arms extended 🛑
🚸Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks
🚗Slowdown in school zones
Parents should also go over safety tips with their children to ensure they are safe on and around school buses and zones. You can find more safety tips on our website: https://www.martinschools.org/page/transportation

We love our Martin County Sheriff's Office SROs!
Crystal Lake Elementary staff caught their SRO, Deputy Peterson, reading a book with a student, and this just melts our hearts!
School SROs do so many things for our school community, including building relationships with students.
They not only dedicate themselves to the safety of the community, but they are an important part of our school families!
SROs help shape our future leaders and ensure that our school is a place of security and support for all.
Thank you, Deputy Peterson, for all that you do!💛📚🏆
🍎 LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY 🍎
Please join us in celebrating the career of Mr. Tony Barrett!
Mr. Tony has served the Martin County School District for 27 wonderful years. His journey with the District started at the Environmental Studies Council Center, but he was part of the Felix A. Williams Elementary family for the last decade.
Principal Sara Tuthill says Mr. Tony kept the FAWE grounds beautiful. Through his outstanding work, it was clear he took pride in the school. He was always there with a helping hand and truly enjoyed his job. FAWE students and staff will surely miss Mr. Tony very much.
We wish you all the best in your retirement, Mr. Tony! Thank you for your commitment and service to our students and staff.

🚨🍎 ON THE JOB TRAINING 🚨🍎
Martin County student teachers who are completing their degree programs at IRSC - Indian River State College participated in Future Educators' Response to Emergency Situations (FERTES) training today!
Joined by our Chief of Safety & Security, Mr. Frank Frangella, and law enforcement experts from throughout the Treasure Coast, these future educators learned how to respond to various emergencies, including active shooter situations. FERTES was introduced in Florida following the tragedy that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. While they hope they will never have to use this training, these future educators are committed to being prepared and excited to join the Martin County instructional team!
