Martin County School District students Kendall and Collin Wintercorn took their summer adventures to the nation's capital!
Did you know, more than 9,000 trees are located on the National Mall; nearly 2,300 are American elm trees, which North American settlers named “the Lady of the Forest.” These elm trees line the length of the National Mall, helping to frame the views between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol.

Felix A. Williams Elementary student Wyatt Caswell combatted the summer slide by digging up some clams in Cape Cod!
Not only did he explore U.S. Geography while traveling to Massachusetts, but he learned many lessons through clam digging! Did you know soft shell clams can live for 10-12 years? Some may have lived for as long as 28 years.

School and District leaders engaged in another school improvement planning session this morning. Planning and preparation don’t “break” for the summer- leaders continuously review student data and develop goals, targets and accountability measures that will improve educational outcomes for all Martin County students.
As Superintendent Michael Maine has shared, we are coming for the top spot in the Florida Department of Education’s accountability system. The ascent has begun!

Martin County School District students Amelia and Owen Holtz combatted the summer slide by learning about gravity through rollerskating!
Every time you skate, you are putting science into action! When you begin skating, you prove Newton’s first law of motion. Your roller skate wheels will not move unless an outside force moves them.
