"Gianna has attended Martin County Schools her entire life- and Oh, the Memories," proud parent Randi shared. "From Chorus to Choir to Jubilate - Gianna started singing as a baby, and keeps going! You can catch her at her second home, the Visionary School of Arts, an art teacher in their Summer Camp and during the school year...Is Civil Engineering considered an art? There are so many choices to make! Shout out to all the teachers and coaches helping her along the way- she is one who can endure and triumph. 🍎LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY🍎 On Tuesday evening, Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Sharon Jovanovich. Ms. Jovanovich taught for many MCSD schools over her 32-year career. Certified in elementary education for grades 1-6, K-12 reading and ESOL-endorsed, she began her career at Port Salerno Elementary School, where she taught first and third grades for five years. She then moved to SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL for three years before briefly leaving the District. She returned to Martin County and J.D. Parker Elementary School, where she taught for 11 years before transferring to Hobe Sound Elementary School. Ms. Jovanovich spent the last 13 years at HSE, where Principal Dr. Dianne Memmer-Novak tearfully congratulated her for being an amazing teacher, creating genuine relationships and cultivating a unique classroom community. 🐯A WARM WELCOME🐯 Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay enjoyed his visit to Martin County High School today, where he greeted current principal Al Fabrizio and incoming principal Cristy Selvidge! Ms. Selvidge, who comes from Broward County, will spend the next few months working alongside Mr. Fabrizio, who is set to retire at the end of this school year. Ms. Selvidge brings a wealth of experience as a school administrator with her to Martin County. 🍎LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY🍎 On Tuesday evening, Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Jensen Beach Elementary School's Jennifer Weekman. Ms. Weekman has been invested in the Martin County School District community--she has been a teacher with the District for 38 years and is an MCSD alum! Before moving to Jensen Beach Elementary School, she taught at Hobe Sound Elementary School for 14 years. Her greatest memories of being a teacher will be the chances she had to witness students experience “aha!” moments and grow into happy, successful and productive adults. 🌳🎨INSPIRED BY NATURE🎨🌳 About 80 students from Martin County High School, South Fork High School, Jensen Beach High School and Clark Advanced Learning Center recently gathered at Memorial Park in Downtown Stuart for a day full of art! MartinArts partners with local artists and hosts our students to help grow their artistic talents through different mediums. These artists share their lessons in art and life as professional artists. Students practiced in the art of ceramics, field sketching, acrylic, indigo dyeing and photography while enjoying a beautiful day outside and using nature as their muse.
