🐾WILDCAT WELCOMERS🐾
Starting at a new school might be scary, but not when you have a friendly group of students like the Wildcat Welcomers showing the ropes!
These welcomers are learning the importance of leadership, kindness, and inclusion. They are trained to introduce themselves, play with the new student at recess, and take them on a quick tour to meet helpful people in the school. Way to go, Wildcats!

🇺🇸HONORING OUR HEROES🇺🇸
Martin County High School Air Force JROTC Cadet Major Santiago Pacheco was selected as a Guardian for the Honor Flight program on Sept. 21, 2024.
Cadet Major Pacheco had the honor of a lifetime to escort a U.S. Coast Guard veteran from the Vietnam War to Washington, D.C. We are proud of this cadet's dedication to serving those who served our nation! 🇺🇸👏

🌎CELEBRATING A TRAILBLAZER🌎
We are beyond proud of Nina Goyal, a Martin County High School sophomore, who recently had the honor of speaking in front of the United Nations in New York about her groundbreaking science research! She is the first student from Martin County to do so!
Nina has been competing in the science fair since 2nd grade, and her love for science continues to grow. For the past four years, she has been working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a clean, sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to herbicides and pesticides.
She is a change-maker! Joins us in congratulating her incredible achievements! 👏

⭐️COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR SAFETY AND SUCCESS⭐️
Chambers of commerce and our labor unions have proudly endorsed the renewal of the existing millage referendum, which helps fund critical resources for our schools.
When Martin County voters head to the polls on November 5, they will see a request to renew the existing millage referendum. Funding from the millage helps provide additional school resource officers and mental health programs to create a safe and supportive environment, while helping us recruit, retain, and train top teachers and staff for a quality education.

🌀EYE ON THE STORM🌀
**Update 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26: Schools and offices in the Martin County School District will reopen and return to normal operations on Friday, Sept. 27.
The District continues to carefully monitor local weather conditions alongside our partners at the Martin County Emergency Management Agency. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and employees as we navigated the uncertain weather conditions caused by Hurricane Helene. While we were forecasted to experience frequent high wind speeds, our District was fortunately spared from receiving severe damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Floridians as Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen into an extremely powerful storm and head towards the West Coast.
It is important for our students to return to class as attendance is essential for their success. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and providing the best education.

🇺🇸CELEBRATE FREEDOM WEEK🇺🇸
Today marks the start of Celebrate Freedom Week in the Martin County School District!
The Florida Legislature designated the last full week in September as "Celebrate Freedom Week" to highlight the significance of the Declaration of Independence.
Students will explore the meaning of the Declaration of Independence, reflecting on the principles our nation was founded on, through engaging, age-appropriate lessons in social studies.
Ask your child what they learned today!

🎉SHOWING APPRECIATION🎉
We received an amazing shoutout for Student Delivery Specialist James Byrne that we just had to share!
"We live in Martins Crossing, so each morning we wait as the kids get on the bus. This bus driver shows so much compassion and cares for each student. He greets each child with a smile and has a wonderful way to ensure a positive start to their day. I am sure this bus driver makes their journey to school safe, rain or shine. Please thank him for his patience, care and the vital role he plays in shaping their day."-- grateful parent.
Thank you, Mr. Byrne, for your dedication to delivering students safely and with a smile! 😊
