🌭COMMUNITY COOKOUT🌭 Martin County School District Transportation Department leaders recently hosted their monthly hotdog cookout of appreciation! The cookout is a way for the administration staff to show how much they care about their community of bus drivers, bus assistants, mechanics, and everyone who helps deliver students safely to their school. Tom Hardin, the Director of Transportation, cooks everything himself! He and his leadership team also chip in for the food so their staff can enjoy this meal for free! This past cookout had special guests from Recruitment and Retention and Public Information handing out goody bags for the transportation family. It's a great day to celebrate that transportation has a well-staffed team of great people! Transportation staff, thank you for all you do! #ALLINMartin👊

🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This afternoon, we are shining a spotlight on South Fork High School seniors Adriaan and Sebastian Van Agtmaal-Bonet! "Time management at its best! It is often hard to show your kids how much more they can do when they stay focused," proud mom Lisandra shared. "For us and our twins Adriaan & Sebastian, it took some time, many encouraging talks, and the amazing Staff of the IB Program of SFHS to get the message through. Now as seniors, we look back and the boys can see that they both had challenges with the IB Program but never gave up on it. They did not let their SFHS Swim & Dive Team down either. They still added to their routine: working responsibly at the YMCA of The Treasure Coast as Summer Camp Leaders, After-School Care and Lifeguarding. And finally, their senior schoolmates bestowed upon them both the “Life of the Party” superlative! It’s been a fun and very well-balanced act. The IB Program was doable after all, and having fun remained in the equation! Adriaan & Sebastian have both had tremendous personal growth; the challenges conquered have given them more self confidence, have helped them expand their critical thinking, and have set them on a great academic path with a wonderful future ahead." 🎉Congratulations, Adriaan and Sebastian! 🎉 We are so proud of you! "Miranda has been a dedicated member of the Tiger Regiment under the direction of her favorite teacher, Ms. Cleghorn," proud mom Janine shared. "For the past two years, she has had the privilege of being the Low Brass Section Leader for the Regiment...A special shout out to Mr. Savela for always believing in her success and always being encouraging, as well as to Mr. Theobald for being such a supportive teacher, and guiding her through her senior year." ⭐CELEBRATING GOOD CHARACTER⭐ Trustworthiness and citizenship are two pillars of Character Counts!, a program focusing on character skills and shaping a positive culture for students. Jensen Beach High School students Grace Pettit, Mikayla Raspberry and Leah Smith (not pictured) showed those two qualities and overall great character after they found a wallet at school filled with cash but couldn't identify who the owner was. 🎉CELEBRATING IMPACTFUL CHANGES🎉 The Environmental Studies Council recently won a $100,000 grant from Impact100 Martin, which will benefit Martin County School District students! The Council applied for the grant in hopes of renovating the iconic Wet Lab at the one-of-a-kind Environmental Studies Center. Hundreds of Martin County students visit the Wet Lab every week, where they have a hands-on learning experience about the species in the local ecosystem. With the $100,000 grant from Impact100 Martin, the Council will be able to replace the pressure-treated wood with a longer-lasting wood composite, install a new AC system, and make the Wet Lab even safer and more comfortable overall for students, wildlife and ESC staff. 🎉CELEBRATING IMPACTFUL CHANGES🎉 The Education Foundation of Martin County recently won a $100,000 grant from Impact100 Martin, which will benefit Martin County School District students! EFMC applied for the grant in hopes to create career exploratory labs in at least two MCSD middle schools. The labs would be similar to the STEM Career Lab currently in Indiantown Middle School, which was paid for by Perkins Rural Innovation, MCSD funds and Title I funds. These career labs give students the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their futures at an earlier age through hands-on modules, preparing them for high school and beyond! 🎨CULTIVATING CREATIVITY🎨 It's that time of year when the weather can be picture-perfect! Next week, art students from Jensen Beach High School, South Fork High School, Martin County High School and Clark Advanced Learning Center will be participating in Plein Air Arts Day! Hosted by MartinArts, Arts Day is a fun and educational program where students learn different art techniques from local artists and create their own masterpieces outside in the beautiful downtown Stuart!
