🎨CELEBRATING ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS🎨 Congratulations to Ms. Ashley Monks, Indiantown Middle School's art teacher, for being named the 2022 Florida Art Education Association (FAEA) Middle School Art Educator of the Year! Ms. Monks has been teaching for 15 years, 8 of those years with the Martin County School District at IMS. She is loved by her students and her coworkers, who would say she is a great teammate and team leader. Throughout her career with MCSD, Ms. Monks has achieved many accomplishments, including being named the 2021 mARTies Art Educator of the Year and the IMS 2018 Teacher of the Year. On top of being an amazing art teacher, Ms. Monks also leads the Green Club at IMS! 🍎 RECRUITING HIGHLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL🍎 As preparations for the 2022-2023 school year continue, the Martin County School District has announced several incentives and initiatives designed to recruit highly-qualified candidates across various career fields. 🍎Effective immediately, the District will cover all fees associated with fingerprinting and drug testing for candidates who need to complete such testing to secure their employment with the District. These fees will be covered for new hires through the first day of school on August 10, 2022. 🍎Effective August 1, 2022, the District will increase the rates of pay for all substitute teachers. Substitute teachers will be paid according to the schedule included with this post. 📣 ON THE BALLOT 📣 On Tuesday, July 19, the Martin County School Board finalized how the Martin County School District would use funding if Martin County voters reauthorize the “up-to” one half-mill property tax on August 23, 2022. More than $12 million of the estimated $13.7 million in funding generated in year one would be allocated to stipends for teachers and support staff (bus drivers/assistants, food service workers, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, maintenance/skilled trades workers, Extended Day staff and more). The School Board has also prioritized the funding of school safety and mental health initiatives.
