❤️🤍CANDY CANE WONDERLAND❤️🤍
Martin County School District Board Member Jennifer Russell, District 3, recently took a stroll through Candy Cane Wonderland (a.k.a. Warfield Elementary School).
She toured through jolly classrooms and was read to while eating lunch with first graders.
Ms. Russell left some treats of her own...mini candy canes and motivational notes around campus for students and staff! It was a pretty tasty and educational visit ❤️🤍

❤️STAYING ALIVE❤️
Today, Martin County School District Extended Day Managers and Assistant Managers attended CPR and First Aid training. All staff left with their CPR certifications and the song 'Staying Alive' stuck in their heads.
CPR certification is required for Extended Day Managers and Assistant Managers, as well as several other positions at every school site. Thank you, Life First, Inc., for providing the training!

🚒COMMUNITY HEROES🚒
First grade students at Warfield Elementary School are working on the Benchmark unit: Being a Good Community Member. For their lesson, "Firefighters to the Rescue," students met the very people they were reading about!
Shout out to the Martin County Fire Rescue of Indiantown for teaching students about the gear they wear, what to do in case of a fire and how to stop, drop, and roll. Students also toured three of the different vehicles used by MCFR, and learned about the important equipment inside each vehicle, like the jaws of life!
Students now better understand why people get involved in their community, and they had a blast learning about it!

🍎SHARING IS CARING🍎
Crystal Lake Elementary School first grade students have been studying community helpers. To learn what community helpers look like in real life, Officer Glass, Nurse Benz, BAK Middle School's Assistant Principal Mrs. Connelly and Farmer Joe were just a few of the people who came to share how they support the community.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy days to help teach a great lesson!

🦃TURKEY, OR NO?🦃
6th graders in Ms. Stein's class at Indiantown Middle School had a pretty tricky writing assignment before Thanksgiving break.
Ms. Stein asked her students to write from the lens of a turkey and use their persuasive/argumentative skills to write letters convincing a farmer (Ms. Stein) not to cook them for Thanksgiving Supper!

📞CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW📞
For their sound energy unit, Ms. Zilly's fifth grade class at Port Salerno Elementary School read "Horton Hears a Who." The students wondered why everyone couldn’t hear The Whos like Horton could, so students investigated sound energy.
Students made and experimented with string telephones and found evidence that sound travels through vibrations! They wrote letters to Horton explaining sound energy and how it travels.

🦃GOBBLE, GOBBLE, GONE🦃
So, that's what happened to the turkey!
1st Graders in Mrs. Lodes' class at Jensen Beach Elementary School completed a very important STEM challenge...Hide Mr. Turkey. They nailed the assignment 🦃
