Happy 3.141592654.... Day--also known as Pi Day! 🥧 To celebrate the wonders of this mathematical number, we are highlighting the circle-shaped foods students at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School recently cooked up! Whether it's a round waffle or pizza, you can figure out the circumference by multiplying the radius by 2, then multiply the result by pi. These students are enrolled in the Fundamentals of Culinary Careers at AMS. All five middle schools have an Education Foundation of Martin County Career Exploration Lab or Career and Technical Education programs like this where students get hands-on learning in different industries. 🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This morning, we are shining a spotlight on Jensen Beach High School senior Emilie Sullivan! "Emilie is a hardworking, talented, and kind young lady," proud mom Kayla shared. "She began playing the flute in 4th grade, while attending elementary school in Pennsylvania. In 6th grade, she suffered an injury requiring surgery, and was told she may never play the flute again. She prayed and trusted God to do the impossible, and He did!" "In 8th grade, she was awarded Outstanding Musician of the Year at Stuart Middle School" Kayla continued. "She has been a proud member of the Jensen Beach High School band, performing with the concert band, symphonic band, marching band, pep bands, and has participated in Music in Our Schools and the IRSC - Indian River State College Honors Band. While many seniors embrace their off-block periods, Emilie chose to surrender hers so she could participate in concert band - specifically desiring to help the incoming freshmen pursue their love of music." "Mr. Dougherty has been a tremendous influence in her life. He believed in her, continued to challenge her, and encouraged her. Because of the JBHS band family, Emilie has courage and confidence. "Maddy has spent her education in the Martin County School District and has thrived with amazing teachers throughout her educational career at Crystal Lake Elementary School, Palm City Elementary School, Hidden Oaks Middle School and finishing up in the Cambridge International Education AICE Program at Martin County High School," proud mom Kim Harse shared. "She rowed all through middle school and high school at the Treasure Coast Rowing Club, winning FIRST at states her freshman year. She has continued to work hard at everything she does. She has worked on the yearbook at MCHS, being an editor the last two years. She has continued to volunteer at PCE throughout middle school and high school." "Her passion is helping others which is why she is choosing this as her career path." "She was a football & basketball cheerleader throughout HS as well as an AVID student," Angie continued. "Alanna currently is a 2nd year S3 student as teacher assistant at Port Salerno Elementary School in kindergarten where she attended PreK-2nd grade. Alanna has had incredible teachers that created memorable learning experiences, starting in kindergarten at PSE with Mrs. Sharp and ending at The Pinewood Elementary in 4th with Mrs. Norman and 5th with Mrs. Jacaruso! 💧WATER FEST 2024💧 We are thrilled to take part in Students4H2O's annual Water Fest in downtown Stuart on March 23, 2024! Several Martin County School District schools, staff and the Environmental Studies Center will have booths engaging families in a variety of activities designed to spread environmental awareness and foster sustainability. This year, schools are participating in a contest hosted by the StuartLife - The City of Stuart, Florida, where students decorate jerry jugs with themes promoting “Every Drop Counts.” Each entry will be judged during Water Fest.
