
We will soon have a new Diamondback! Ms. Rynca is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Danelle Roberts has been chosen as our Assistant Principal. She has been a part of the Martin County School District for 20 years, serving as a Prevention/Intervention Program Specialist, Math Instructional Coach, Data Liaison, and teacher at J.D. Parker Elementary School.
Mrs. Roberts has been on campus, unofficially, getting to know staff and students, attending PTA/SAC events, and learning CGE programs and procedures. She is eager to begin officially on October 18th, after receiving School Board approval at their next meeting.
"I am confident that Ms. Roberts' leadership and dedication to educational excellence will significantly benefit the Citrus Grove learning community," said Superintendent Michael Maine as part of his recommendation. "Her extensive experience, passion for education, and collaborative spirit make her an excellent choice to help lead CGE to continued success."

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time specially dedicated to raising awareness about and preventing childhood bullying while advocating for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Please join us next week, on Oct. 18, as we celebrate Unity Day and unite against bullying by wearing orange. The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that we are united against bullying!
The Martin County School District promotes bullying prevention all year round and has zero tolerance for any form of bullying or harassment. Please encourage your child to speak with any teacher, administrator or other trusted adult on their campus if they are in need of support.

National School Lunch Week highlights the nutritious foods available daily at each school in the District. It's also a chance to bring awareness of the importance of healthy food choices at school.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium,” said Laura Holmedal, MCSD's Director of Food and Nutrition Services. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.”

⚠️NATIONWIDE ALERT⚠️
Around this time tomorrow, the Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission are planning to test both the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).
The test will occur Wednesday, October 4, at 2:20 p.m. It will be conducted in two parts, with one set to go to cell phones and the other to radio and TV stations.
FEMA says the alert will have a unique tone and vibration to make the alert accessible to all recipients. Phones should receive the message only once in the 30 minutes after the test begins on Wednesday.

The Florida Legislature has designated the last full week in September as "Celebrate Freedom Week." During this special week, the Martin County School District will proudly incorporate meaningful activities and lessons to reinforce the principles our nation was founded on. 🇺🇸📖
Celebrate Freedom Week highlights the significance of the Declaration of Independence. Through our social studies classes, students will participate in an age-appropriate in-depth student of the intent, meaning and importance of the Declaration of Independence. Each morning throughout the week, students will recite the following words of the Declaration of Independence:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
Families that do not wish to have their child participate in the oral recitation of the Declaration of Independence must provide written notice to their school no later than Friday morning, September 22.

Sept. 18-22 is Rail Safety Week, and with GoBrightline starting service from Miami to Orlando on Friday, this is an opportune time to remind families how to be safe near railroad crossings.
🚅 Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists should be aware that rail traffic runs in both directions.
🚅 Stay off the tracks and NEVER go around crossing gates.
🚅 Only cross the railroad at a designated crossing.
🚅 NEVER stop on the tracks.
🚅 Avoid distractions.
Brightline trains can travel up to 110 mph. With service starting to Orlando, more high-speed trains will be passing through Martin County.

The Martin County School District proudly joins our nation in honoring those who were wounded or perished at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, as well as the passengers and crews of flights 93, 77, 11 and 175. We honor the first responders in NYC and the Pentagon, including our own Chief of Security Francesco Frangella, as well as the citizens of our country who were called into action to bring goodness out of evil on September 11, 2001.
