🍎CELEBRATING TEACHERS🍎
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Without our amazing teachers, the Martin County School District couldn't educate ALL of our students for success. Thank you, teachers, for everything you do each and every day to help our students achieve their dreams.
"Every day, you come to school with a passion for teaching and a desire to help our students reach their full potential," said Mr. Michael Maine, Superintendent of Schools. "You inspire them to learn, to grow, and to achieve their dreams. You provide them with the tools they need to succeed, both academically and personally. You create a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive and be their best selves."
We appreciate you!

🦋🐣LEARNING ABOUT LIFE🐣🦋
Martin County School District students are being immersed in science by studying life and nature!
Over at Citrus Grove Elementary School, kindergartners observed the hatchling stage of chicks in class.
Students at Hobe Sound Elementary School learned about butterfly migration and their homes after releasing a couple of butterflies into their garden.
Science lessons can be so adorable and beautiful!

Congratulations to Mrs. Wendy Duncan, CGE's Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Duncan is a graduate of Martin County High School, and 20-year school district Kindergarten teacher. She worked at Hobe Sound Elementary and JD Parker before becoming a Diamondback. During our announcement celebration one of her current students shouted, "Yay, Mrs Duncan is the best teacher, I love her!"- and we couldn't agree more!
(Shown with CGE administrators Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Rynca, as well as her proud husband and son.)

🎉CELEBRATING PRINCIPALS🎉
Administrator. Leader. Teacher. Friend. Substitute. Difference maker.
These are just a few adjectives to describe a school principal.
We know our school principals wear many hats. We know that no matter which hat they must wear at any given point of the day, they are determined to help every student and teacher succeed.
On this School Principals' Day, we can't thank ours enough. Thank you for everything you all do for our students and our community ❤️

Our 1000th token was earned today by.... Brodrick! How fitting- Brodrick is our current MCSDReads GOAT with the most points in the school! This 5th grader has 831 points and enjoys reading series, fantasy, and funny books. We are inspired by his love of reading, and thrilled to reward him with book vending machine tokens. The For the Love of Reading incentive program is provided by generous donations to the Education Foundation of Martin County. Congratulations, Brodrick!

The Martin County School District STEM Awards Ceremony was last week and Citrus Grove Elementary is proud to announce our winners. Cora Marr placed 2nd in the Product Testing category for her investigation of makeup removers. Vincenzo studied insulation materials and placed 1st in the Physical Science category. Mrs. Molina-Council, the classroom teacher of both students, expressed appreciation for their hard work. "I'm so proud of Vincenzo and Cora, and so grateful for their supportive families," she said.
In addition to these individual winners, CGE had two classroom projects receive honorable mention awards. Ms. Hewitt's Kindergarten class was recognized for their experiment studying how liquids dissolve candy, and Mrs. Jacobsen's class earned a prize for their investigation of iron in cereals.
Diamondback high-fives go to these teachers and Mrs. Gibson, our Related Arts science teacher and STEM Fair coordinator, for all of their instruction and guidance during the fair. Thank you for inspiring scientific thinking!

CGE had several #MathWeek2023 Kahoot winners in Ms. Krukowski's 4th grade class. Congratulations to her students who earned top honors in these district-wide contests!

Citrus Grove super readers
Thanks, EFMC
In honor of National Haiku Poetry Day, we'd like to thank one of our most important partners for learning - the Education Foundation of Martin County. They coordinate a multitude of initiatives for schools, teachers, staff, students, and families, but this year they began supporting a BIG one here on CGE's campus: the For the Love of Reading book vending machine! The MCSDReads program allows students to earn points for reading books, and each time students earn 25 points the EFMC provides a gold token for use at the vending machine to choose a book to keep. So far this year, CGE has read over 31,000 books, and more than 975 tokens have been awarded. Who will earn our 1,000th token? Stay tuned as we celebrate our super readers this week!
