HSE: Wednesday 11/13 is World Kindness Day! We are celebrating by providing every student a Kindness B.I.N.G.O. card in their class on Wednesday. We ask that any adult in the student's lives recognize and initial in the box when one of the kind acts are completed at home or school. Completed Bingo cards will be turned into Mrs. Martter, school counselor by 2 pm On Monday 11/18 for further recognition. Kindness matters at HSE.

HSE Welcomes Deputy Olson as our school's School Resource Officer. We are so fortunate to have Deputy Olson on our campus supporting the safety of our campus.

Hobe Sound Elementary has two of our very own team members who are veterans from two different branches of the armed forces. Mrs. Brandt served in the Army and Mr. Denzil served in the Marines. Thank you both for your service. We honor them and are so thankful they choose to be members of our school community continuing their public service and difference making right here at HSE! ❤️🤍💙

Cason has been a member of Nature-Know-It-Alls for two years and has designed an image for a new HSE spirit shirt. Ms. DeVoe and Mrs. Molter will be sending this image to the t-shirt company to have it printed. Once the company gives us a price, Mrs. Molter will send out an order form. It will be optional for families to purchase the shirt. The order forms will not go out until at least December.

📆MAKEUP DAY INFORMATION📆 Martin County School District students will NOT be required to make up the days missed due to the recent hurricanes. Fortunately, after a thorough review of the District’s instructional calendar, students will still meet state requirements and complete the academic year without the need to use make-up days at this time. We are committed to supporting the community with ongoing recovery efforts, including through the Education Foundation of Martin County’s relief fund for employees and families, providing free meals for students, and offering credit for last week’s Extended Day services. Unity Day unites students, parents, educators, and community members across the nation to spread the message that we stand together against bullying. We are grateful to be able to resume school tomorrow morning, October 14th. School doors open at 7:10 am. Breakfast and lunch are free this school week for all students. This week we have two family events and one dress up event. Wednesday is unity day, we ask for all to dress in Orange to demonstrate our promotion of kindness and inclusiveness as we stand up against bullying. Wednesday night is family night at 5:30. All are welcome and those in attendance will receive at home math kits to take with them. Friday night is our PTA Boo Bash/family dance, an RSVP was required and is extended through tomorrow, October 14th, please call our front office. If your family experienced hardship during this storm, please contact our office so that we can assist and connect you with resources. We have great pride in our community and its willingness to help neighbors. Thank you for all you are doing to assist your neighbors and those who have been greatly impacted. 🌀REOPENING UPDATE🌀 **Update 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10: Schools and offices in the Martin County School District will resume operations on Monday, October 14. The majority of our campuses were fortunately spared from receiving severe damage and have been cleared for a safe return to classes. Safety remains our highest priority, and we are committed to providing a secure learning environment as repairs continue across the District. Our thoughts and prayers are with our families and neighbors as we all continue to rebuild from Hurricane Milton, and we stand ready to support our students, families, and staff in any way possible. 🌀EYE ON THE STORM🌀 ** Update 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 8: Following this evening's briefing with Martin County Emergency Management officials, the decision has been made to open four schools as shelters beginning at noon tomorrow, October 9, with the exception of the special needs shelter, which opens at 7 a.m. The shelters will remain open until Hurricane Milton has moved away from our area, at which time staff will begin restoring campuses to pre-storm conditions. As this will take us into Friday, all MCSD-operated schools will remain closed through the end of the current week. We plan to resume classes and normal operations on Monday, October 14.  The following schools will be used as shelters: -Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School--opens at 7 a.m., Oct. 9 (special needs population - residents should register here: https://www.martin.fl.us/SpecialNeeds). This shelter includes limited medical oversight and is designed for residents with electricity-dependent needs such as oxygen. -Willoughby Learning Center (residents and pets) -Port Salerno Elementary School (general population) -Warfield Elementary School (general population) Families and employees are encouraged to stay informed by visiting our website, www.martinschools.org, and social media channels for the latest updates. The District continues to carefully monitor local weather conditions alongside our partners at the Martin County Emergency Management Agency. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and employees as we navigated the uncertain weather conditions caused by Hurricane Helene. While we were forecasted to experience frequent high wind speeds, our District was fortunately spared from receiving severe damage. The decision is based on the latest information from the National Weather Service and local emergency management officials. Wind speeds throughout the morning are projected to exceed limits for school bus operation, making it unsafe for transportation. MCSD continues to work closely with local emergency management officials to track the storm and will provide further information regarding District operations beyond Thursday as it becomes available. Families are urged to monitor the District's website at www.martinschools.org, social media channels, and the District's automated messaging system for updates.
