The Education Foundation of Martin County and the Environmental Studies Council both recently won $100,000 grants from Impact100 Martin!
Impact100 Martin is a local nonprofit where women philanthropists group together to raise funds and award a game-changing $100,000 grant to a nonprofit where it will have the most local impact.
The Education Foundation of Martin County applied for the grant in hopes to create career exploratory labs in at least two Martin County School District middle schools. The labs would be similar to the STEM Career Lab currently in Indiantown Middle School, which was paid for by Perkins Rural Innovation, MCSD funds and Title I funds.
These career labs give students the opportunity to explore the possibilities of their futures at an earlier age through hands-on modules, preparing them for high school and beyond. This kind of career lab could benefit hundreds of students.

The Environmental Studies Council also received the $100,000 grant from Impact100 Martin. The Council applied for the grant in hopes to renovate the iconic Wet Lab at the Environmental Studies Center.
Hundreds of Martin County students visit the Wet Lab every week, where they have a hands-on learning experience about the species in the local ecosystem.
With the $100,000 grant from Impact100 Martin, the Council will be able to replace the pressure-treated wood with a longer-lasting wood composite, install a new AC system, and overall, make the Wet Lab even safer and more comfortable for students, wildlife and ESC staff.

Thank you, Impact100 Martin and congratulations to the EFMC and ESC!
