Mrs. Lodes' first graders reviewed graphing today by sorting and charting how many candy hearts they had of each color! Happy Valentine's Day!
Ask your child to name the different thinking maps! Here is a glimpse of the hard work kindergarteners in Mrs. Hauck’s class has put into their tree maps & their flow maps. Tree maps have been used to help sort word families and flow maps have been used to retell our Benchmark Advanced story “A House fFor Max”.
Happy Valentine's Day from the first grade team!
While another year has passed, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Broward County Public Schools and the City of Parkland will forever remain in our thoughts and hearts. We will never forget.

Energy Bus Leaders
Rule #5 – Don’t waste your energy on those who don’t get on your bus.
• Don’t worry about the people that don’t get on your bus.
• Don’t be upset that these people don’t get on your bus. Don’ t take it personally.
• You can only drive your bus
• The more energy you waste on the people that didn’t get on your bus, the less energy you have for the people who are on your bus.
• Your success and life are so important that you must surround yourself with a positive support team.
• No energy vampires – people who suck the life out of you and your goals and vision.

💡EMPOWERING STEM EDUCATORS💡
Thank you, @insidefpl and @educationfoundationmc, for the valuable professional development for our elementary STEM educators!
The Education Foundation of Martin County provided District teachers with a STEM-based learning opportunity that will benefit both their professional development and the education of students across our twelve elementary schools! The Foundation was able to do so through the FPL EmPOWERing STEM Educators Grant!

Join Mrs. Nolan's SMART lab class who has partnered with the Martin County Fair to create a hands-on interactive science museum for the community. The area is over 2,000 square feet and has more than a dozen activities including a cave with stalagmites and fossilized sharks' teeth, an earthquake shake table, and a rocket launch to moon bases. In addition, there will be and science shows performed by our students. Our students and their families will be volunteering at the fair and would love to see you. The area is free with admission to the fair. The dates of the fair are Feb. 10- 18th.
Research has proven that informal learning opportunities increase a child's mastery of science concepts.
2nd graders in Mrs. Clark's class worked on a team building activity where they went around and wrote one thing they loved about each of their classmates ❤️
Mrs. Lodes' first graders have been working hard to compare numbers using a number line. They have also been learning about symbols to compare numbers!
Congratulations to Mason, Declin, and Brooklyn in Mrs. Lodes' class for earning their books from the Book Vending machine!
📚CELEBRATING OUR HISTORY📚
As our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth continues, we spotlight two brothers who were educational pioneers in Martin County, Charles E. and Robert G. Murray.
Charles Murray founded the Stuart Training School in 1926 - this was the county's first high school for Black students. He remained principal until 1939 when his brother, Robert, took over.
Stuart Training School eventually became Spectrum Academy and Murray Middle School was named after the brothers.
