A Jensen Beach High School Senior was selected for an incredible opportunity and attend the Air Force's 2023 Flight Academy Program.
Luke Sexton was one of 200 selected cadets to receive $28,000 in flight training at a university, which is to be determined, next summer after graduation.
The Flight Academy Program lasts eight weeks, during which Luke will be eligible to earn his Private Pilot Certification at no cost. Housing and food are also included in the program.
Luke was chosen to join the program based on his high score on the Aviation Qualification Test, his GPA and scoring well on a physical fitness test.
According to Retired Air Forces Colonel Mark Colbert, Luke's JRTOC Instructor, Luke shows interest in being a pilot, although he also hopes to attend the University of Florida to become a physical therapist or join the medical community in some capacity.
JROTC Instructor Col. Colbert said Luke is always full of positivity, is very intelligent and a hard worker. He couldn't be more excited for his student to attend the summer program.
