Jensen Beach High School

On Friday, November 22, our students performed a One Act Play titled Yellow Wallpaper by Kathryn Funkhouser (Adapted from the The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman) in One Act Competition. This production was Student-Directed & Stage-Managed by Christina Allison with Lights and Sound by Jessica Brown and Performed by Hannah Miller, Luke Dujic, Kammryn Snyder, Linsday Logan, Matthew Greenlee, Sofia Dowd, Kate Zoetmulder, Vanessa Billings, Paisley Kemp, and Julieonna Calzadilla. This piece received an Excellent rating in competition, and Kammyrn Snyder was awarded the All-Star Cast Member Award! On Saturday, December 7, we hosted and participated in the District 15 International Thespian Society Thespy Festival where our students submitted/performed projects in categories such as play writing, musical numbers, acting scenes, costume construction, set design, etc. All projects are student directed. Congratulations to the following: Ian Karandreas received an EXCELLENT rating for his Play Write submission titled Quiet Voice, Loud Imagination. Savannah Beach received a SUPERIOR rating and CRITICS CHOICE for her costume construction project: Peter Pan (1954 Broadway Version). Ian Karandreas received a SUPERIOR rating for his Monologue performance: Suburbia by Eric Bogosian and Pramkicker by Sadie Hasler. Kate Zoetmulder received a SUPERIOR rating for her Monologue performance: Bye Bye Birdie By Michael Stewart and North View High School Will Shelter You by Emily Hageman. Alan Jacobsen received an EXCELLENT rating for his Monologue performance: Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare and Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. Alexa Voglio and Lindsay Logan received an EXCELLENT rating for their Duet Acting Scene: My First Lockdown byJason Pizzarello. Michael Franco and Gracie Scannapieco received an EXCELLENT rating for their Duet Acting Scene: This Murder Was Staged by Patrick Greene Jason & Pizzarello. Samuel McCulley received a SUPERIOR rating on his Solo Musical performance: Disappear - The Burnt Part Boys. Anna Vitale received a SUPERIOR rating on her Solo Musical performance: Someone Like You - Jekyll and Hyde. Scarlett Waronicki received a SUPERIOR rating on her Solo Musical performance: Don’t Rain on My Parade - Funny Girl. Sofia Dowd received a SUPERIOR rating on her Solo Musical performance: History of Wrong Guys - Kinky Boots. Christina Allison received an EXCELLENT rating on her Solo Musical performance: She Used to Be Mine - Waitress. Kate and Savannah received an EXCELLENT rating for their Duet Musical: The Mad Ones - The Mad Ones. Luke and Sofia received an EXCELLENT rating for their Musical Duet: Tonight - West Side Story. Chris and Blake received an EXCELLENT rating for their Musical Duet: Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop of Horrors. Hannah and Sofia received an EXCELLENT rating for their Musical Duet: Apex Predator - Mean Girls. Anna and Sam received a SUPERIOR rating for their Musical Duet: Therapy - Tick Tick Boom. Finally, our Large Group Musical Number Freak Flag from Shrek the Musical received an EXCELLENT rating and was performed by the following students: Alexa Voglio, Blake Kershanick, Hailey Scarantino, Jonah Rukeyser, Jordan Jones , Julieonna Calzadilla, Kate Zoetmulder, Lucas Gibbs, Madalyn Robison, Matthew Greenlee, Ramona Floridor-White, Reagan Kenny, Scarlett Waronicki, Sofia Dowd, Taylor Tiberio, and Vanessa Billings. Superior rated acts are eligible to participate in the Florida Thespian's State Festival that will be held in Tampa, FL this March! We are so incredibly proud of our students for their passion and commitment to the Dramatic Arts!

More than 75 of our National Honor Society members, along with their advisor, Mrs. Duchene, spent Sunday morning supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by walking in the Out of the Darkness Walk for the Treasure Coast. Spanish Honor Society is sending $510 and 34 decorated stockings to children in Honduras, Bolivia and Chile through the Christmas Stocking Project with Children’s Impact Network.  Students enjoyed a hot cocoa bar along with Villancicos and beautiful decorations to get into the Christmas spirit while they decorated their stockings for this service project.  ¡Feliz Navidad! https://www.cinonline.org/christmas-stockings
