☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY ☀️
Reminder: At approximately 1:48 p.m., Martin County will begin to experience a partial solar eclipse.
This happens when the moon passes directly between Earth and the sun, momentarily casting a shadow and blocking the sun's light.
Martin County will not experience a "totality" like other parts of the country and can expect to see approximately 51% coverage of the sun.
It is NEVER safe to look directly into the sun with the naked eye. For more information on how to view the solar eclipse next week, please visit: https://www.martinschools.org/article/1532351

Hello Pinewood Family,
Our Performing Panthers performed beautifully during Music In Our Schools this past week. We want to acknowledge and thank Mrs. Johns for jumping in to take over this group of performers and Ms. Costello for assisting her. They represented us very well and we are extremely proud. Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Hochstetter had a fun and educational booth at the Water Fest this past Saturday. We saw some of our Panthers there and hope you had a great time learning about the importance of H2o. This week we have our SAC meeting at 5:30 Pm on Tuesday, March 26th, as well as Cub Scouts at 6:30 pm. The rest of our i-Ready most improved students will have their Sundae Party Thursday afternoon as well. Lastly, Friday there is no school. Our last Book Fair of the year will start April 5th. Start making a list of the books you want to read over the Summer. Have a great week!
Hola familia Pinewood,

🍎CHOOSING THE BEST🍎
During an Emergency Meeting held this evening, the Martin County School Board voted to add Martin County High School and Jensen Beach High School to the list of approved Controlled Open Enrollment schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
This means in AND out-of-county residents can apply to ANY MCSD-operated school during the application period that will open tomorrow, March 1 – March 31.
For high school students, applications for signature programs are no longer required as part of the Choice process, but must be completed if your child would like to be considered for entrance into a signature program.
ℹ️Students accepted into a Controlled Open Enrollment choice option must have their own mode of transportation to and from school. Students are not required to renew their applications annually and will be permitted to attend their chosen school through the highest grade level offered on the campus.
