🚨🍎 ON THE JOB TRAINING 🚨🍎
Martin County student teachers who are completing their degree programs at IRSC - Indian River State College participated in Future Educators' Response to Emergency Situations (FERTES) training today!
Joined by our Chief of Safety & Security, Mr. Frank Frangella, and law enforcement experts from throughout the Treasure Coast, these future educators learned how to respond to various emergencies, including active shooter situations. FERTES was introduced in Florida following the tragedy that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. While they hope they will never have to use this training, these future educators are committed to being prepared and excited to join the Martin County instructional team!

🎨CREATIVE COLLABORATORS 🎨
Art educators in the Martin County School District recently attended the annual Florida Art Education Association (FAEA) Professional Development Conference in Pointe Vedra, FL. FAEA is the only professional development solely for art educators and allows art instructors from across the state to collaborate and learn from each other.
Our art educators not only gained valuable knowledge from fellow teachers, they also conducted workshops and hosted art forums during the conference themselves! Mrs. Sheryl Odza (Stuart Middle School) and Mrs. Leah Sacks (J.D. Parker Elementary School) presented workshops and art forums. Mrs. Melissa Nelson (Hidden Oaks Middle School) assisted in a workshop session, creating the presentation for the Royal & Langnickel Classroom Mr. Brush figurine. Mrs. Ashley Monks (Port Salerno Elementary School) facilitated many workshops throughout the conference.
Thanks to the MCSD Curriculum and Instruction Department, these fantastic art teachers are coming back to their classrooms with creative minds full of new strategies, concepts, and dynamic projects for our students!

🐾CLASHING FOR CHARITY🐾
Every year, the South Fork High School Student Government Association promotes Clash of the Classes, pitting the classes against each other in friendly competition.
One of the components is the Penny Wars, where students add pennies for positive points for their class and put silver coins in other class jars to take points away.
Each year, the SGA chooses a local charity to donate all the proceeds. This year, they chose Operation 300, a local non-profit organization that mentors children of Gold and White Star families.
SFHS students raised $1,618 for Operation 300, nearly $400 more than last year!
Way to go, Bulldogs!
