💵📈STOCK ABOUT IT📈💵
The Martin County School District's Personal Financial Literacy Teachers recently teamed up to talk lesson plans for this brand-new course.
In March, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 1054, requiring high school students to take a financial literacy course to receive a standard high school diploma.
With first-year teacher Mr. Terrell Mabins leading the way, our Personal Financial Literacy Teachers collaborate to create an encompassing curriculum to educate and empower our students. This curriculum aims to give our students the knowledge and skills to make wise financial choices and pave the way for a prosperous future.

🎉CELEBRATING SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE FIELD🎉
Congratulations to Jensen Beach High School for being named Florida Athletic Coaches Association's 2022-2023 Carey McDonaled "Athletic Program of the Year" Award Winner for Class 5A!
Every year, FACA recognizes the top athletic programs in each classification with this award, named after second Executive Director Carey McDonald. The organization uses two criteria to select the winner: Whole School Membership and the athletic program’s finish in the Florida High School Athletic Association Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All-Sports Award.
The students, coaches and the entire athletic department at JBHS earned this award through their dedication and hard work. Let's give them a round of applause for this win! 👏👏🎉

Hurricane Idalia is rapidly approaching the west coast of Florida and is expected to bring powerful winds and storm surge as it approaches Category 3 strength. While Martin County is not currently operating under any storm-related watches or warnings, our area is expected to experience heavy rains and wind gusts from the storm.
Any time severe weather has the potential to impact our area, the Martin County School District works closely with national, state, and county management officials, including the Martin County Emergency Operations Center, to determine how operations may be impacted. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and families. We will continue to monitor the path of the storm and will provide updates as needed through our mass notification (callout/text) system, website and social media channels.
We encourage families and employees to make necessary preparations that will help ensure their safety during severe weather conditions, such as reviewing emergency plans and stocking up on essential supplies. We encourage you to take advantage of the Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which began this past weekend. It lasts until Friday, September 8.
We appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we continue to monitor local weather conditions.

🌟ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH AVID🌟
The Martin County School District's AVID program is growing!
AVID stands for AVID stands for "Advancement Via Individual Determination.
Murray Middle School is one of the schools implementing AVID, which is a program that focuses on preparing students for college and career success. It equips them with the academic, organizational, and critical thinking skills necessary for higher education or career readiness.
AVID doesn't just focus on academics; it also helps students develop life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success beyond the classroom.
Murray Middle, Stuart Middle School and Warfield Elementary are in the planning phase of adding AVID to their schools. Next year, the program will be fully implemented!

📈LEVELING UP📈
Collaboration is always in action in the Martin County School District! These teachers are teaming up to become literacy coaches or leveling up their coaching skills, by working to earn their Florida Reading Coach Endorsement.
MCSD Professional Learning Department team member Stephanie Ressler, along with Curriculum and Instruction’s Courtney Beard and Maureen Mannion from Pinewood Elementary, are leading the charge in delivering the Florida Literacy Coach Endorsement Professional Development for these future literacy coaches.
The coursework provides an opportunity for coaches to improve their coaching knowledge and skills by engaging in reading, analyzing videos, participating in activities related to the standards with others in the course, and developing culminating projects for each module to demonstrate their growing knowledge and abilities. 📖📹🤝
Literacy coaches serve as a stable resource for professional development and ongoing support for teachers and school leaders throughout a school to generate improvement in literacy instruction and student achievement. 💡🎓
We are working together to raise the bar for education and become the #1 District in Florida!
