🚀EXPLORING THEIR FUTURES🚀
The District hosted its first "Explore My Future" Career & Technical Education (CTE) event for eighth-graders at Hidden Oaks Middle School yesterday!

There will be no school for students on Friday, January 14 (Teacher Work Day) and Monday, January 17 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). Classes will resume Tuesday, January 18.

The Career Academy Showcase on the Road is coming to Hidden Oaks this Thursday, January 13th for all 8th graders. Your child will explore their future through interactive tables led by current CTE Academy students. Remind your child…. Future Starts Here! Parents, be on the lookout for your 8th graders’ Explore My Future string bag to come home this Thursday. Review the Academy Guidebook within and discuss the many career program opportunities your child has in high school. Connecting school to work will happen this week at the Explore My Future event for 8th graders at HOMS. Your 8th grader will network with industry professionals and explore careers relate to our high school Career & Tech programs. Support your child’s school day exploration of careers by using the blank high school schedule template located in the Academy Guidebook he/she will receive on Thursday during the Showcase at school. #LearningThatWorks #CTEMartin

**Shark Soccer is just about here!!**
Try outs for our co-ed (boys & girls) soccer team will be held on Shark Field (inside the track) from 7:40 AM-8:30 AM Monday January 24th, Tuesday January 25th and Wednesday January 26th. All student athletes trying out must have the school approved physical packet completely filled out and will be turned in to Coach Carreiro at try outs!!!! Remember physicals are good for one calendar year.
The team will be posted on Thursday January 27th and our first practice will be Monday February 7th at 7:30 AM to 8:30AM on Shark Field.
The first game is February 7th. A calendar will be given to players on the team at the first practice.

HOMS: APM Testing is Wednesday January 12 (Reading) and Wed. Jan. 19 (Math). Students must bring their fully charged district-issued laptop as well as corded headphones to school. Students should check with ELA or Math teacher to find out your child's testing location. Altered bell schedule for both dates is attached.

HOMS Media is having a contest!
Check out & read any book from our “Adventure” genre. After you’ve read it, come to the media center to pick up an entry form for the January Adventure Travel Mug Contest. You’ll design a travel mug that represents the Adventure book you just read. Your design should represent your book’s character(s), setting and/or plot. The top THREE designs will each win a prize—Good luck and LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!

🚚 DELECTABLE LITERARY EXPERIENCE🚚
Hidden Oaks Middle School held its annual Literacy Food Truck event on Wednesday. The project requires students develop a food truck based on a book they've read. Parents are then invited to come to campus and "sample" students' creations!
