🏃GOING THE DISTANCE🏃 Congratulations to the Martin County High School distance runner, sophomore Robbie Ziskinder, for competing nationally at adidas Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina, over the weekend! Robbie competed in the 1500-meter run after running a nationally qualifying time in his event. Robbie is the 6th (and youngest) MCHS track athlete to compete nationally in the past three years. Martin County High School recently received the 75 Years of Excellence Award from Cognia for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to helping all students reach their potential. During the last School Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Academics Dr. Tracey Miller was honored to present the banner and plaque MCHS received from Cognia to help celebrate the amazing accomplishment. It's a team effort between staff, leadership, students and the community to be accredited for so many generations. The Martin County School District held its oath of office ceremony for Superintendent Michael Maine this afternoon. Superintendent Maine’s family joined school district staff for the occasion, allowing many of the employees in attendance the opportunity to meet and greet while enjoying delicious refreshments provided by our Food & Nutrition Services team. The Martin County School Board named Mr. Maine the Martin County School District’s Superintendent of Schools in April 2023, approving a four-year initial employment contract as part of the measure. #ALLINMartin👊

🎉CELEBRATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP🎉 During the most recent School Board meeting, the School Board recognized Sophia Norris, the Board's Student Representative. Sophia has been the Student Representative during School Board meetings since the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. She has since graduated from Martin County High School with a Cambridge Assessment International Education AICE diploma. Sophia was also the Student Volunteer of the Year and received a Joe Kordick Character Counts Award. Sophia was an outstanding Student Representative, keeping the School Board updated on the impressive accomplishments of all three comprehensive high schools.
